Re: Relegation 20/21
Not sure what will happen but hope it isn't ring fencing as that puts a permanant barrier to the next Worcester or Exeter coming through the leagues. I don't see top level RU returning to the amateur era. To be honest it was a sham amateur era before that anyway. Will some sides go bust - quite pos...

Re: Geordan Murphy leaves the club!
Personally I feel the goodwill of the club is what has been helping drag us down. Clubs are not successful on good will. I feel that whoever is in will have too break it regardless. In all reality say we had a different Chairman/Owner. Do you honestly think they would have kept Murphy in his positi...

Re: Tigers vs Gloucester
...football has suffered from a plethora of long term injuries and it will be interesting to see if this is replicated in the rugby bubble!!!

Re: A Proper Clear Out
Geordan was given a contract for DOR till the end of the season and approached the Club to try and sort out a longer contract to be told that he would not be offered a DOR contract renewal when it expired. The Club have the hindsight and benefit to make the decisions with information that is not op...

Re: A Proper Clear Out
My only issue is that I feel the club should not have made him DOR in the first place only to get rid of the role 2/3 months later. They should have discussed with him where they thought he could fit in when SB had arrived and settled in, and if it was a move away from the rugby side of things, he ...

Re: A Proper Clear Out
The league wasn't anywhere near competitive as it is now when Howard and Richards was involved TBF. Not doubting their ability, just stating the league as it is now is a lot closer ...not too sure about this, if you substitute Exeter and Saracens with Tigers and Bath or Wasp!!! There may be a bunch...

Re: A Proper Clear Out
I could never understand how the role of "director of rugby" fits in with a "head coach? The terminology implies complete control of the rugby, how it is to be played, who is in the team, and who goes. He or she directs the rugby in the club who employs him. Didn't like it when it fi...

Re: Geordan Murphy leaves the club!
I feel sure that cost cutting had a lot to do with the decision and in the end we are probably where we needed to be. I see strategy as a matter for the board and implementation part of the role of the CEO so for me we shouldn't need to recruit anyone else. ..more like convenience!!! Covid is a goo...

Re: A Proper Clear Out
When Geordan took over as Head Coach he had more actual coaching experience than either Dean Richards or Pat Howard when they took charge and they did not turn out too badly. I do not share the view that Geordan was out of his depth, the circumstances he inherited were awful due to previous bad dec...

Re: A Proper Clear Out
I recall that others (RB?) have pointed out that this was in February (?) and was amended by GM himself later on. ..why was it that Murphy did the post match interviews? You would have felt that Borthwick would have been keen to increase his own profile as he was the Head Coach and strategies and p...

Re: A Proper Clear Out
I recall Murphy saying in one of the post match interviews on Radio Leicester that as DOR he would have final say on selection when Borthwick arrived. Any premiership level he is not really ready for a head coach roll. He needs to go and learn how to be a coach. As for DOR, that is a role for someo...

Re: A Proper Clear Out
Or to put another way.... regardless of a lack of evidence either way, I’ve decided I was right and will disregard any other view or evidence to the contrary The tactics didn’t change one bit,it was more dross. Tells me that Murphy still had his stamp on it 👍 Well we shall find out shortly....kicki...

Re: A Proper Clear Out
From the evidence I honestly think that GM would make a good DoR somewhere else. I think he has too much history with the playing side here to have ever been OK with the Borthwick takeover. ..he wanted a say in picking the team, what Head Coach in their right mind would allow someone with Murphys' ...

How has Ben Kay suddenly become a target? Get a grip! Suddenly???! Sorry I forgot you spend your whole life trolling anything and anyone, silly of me to think Ben Kay would be safe. ...what exactly does he bring to the club. How he is still part of the management structure I do not know!!!
