Re: Time for a revolution?

How soon?
Who know's, it's a closed shop most of the time!
That's why I didn't spend much money in it last season!

Re: Time for a revolution?

the failure of the game to ensure continuity of talent from grassroots clubs through to national sides, and the imbalance of influence given to independent school and the old school tie Oooooh, touchy subject! I know exactly where your coming from as I have experienced this on many occasions. It is...

Re: Rugby Lions

It's an area that Neil Back know's so well so recruiting locally should be interesting. He used to play at Coventry and he obviously has many connection's in the Leicester area. Not sure if he could be stealing future Tigers players or supplying them.

Re: Worlds best inside centre?

I think the Kiwi style of play is reversed against the traditional style of play, i.e. basher type IC with good hands and a playmaking OC I think the change has come about with the increased speed and rush defence tactics. It's so difficult for a 10 these days to give his 12 a decent platform on a ...

Re: Worlds best inside centre?

Great player but he was an outside centre When Will Carling stepped down as England captain in 1996, Phil de Glanville was appointed his successor. As de Glanville was thereby guaranteed a place in the team, Carling was moved from inside centre to outside centre and Guscott was relegated to the ben...

Re: Who will win the World Cup?

Ireland will do well to reach the Qtr Finals. To avoid SA in the Qtrs they'd have to beat a tri nations team in the southern hemispere for the first time since 1979 Yeah I know what you mean, I like the Irish pack though. The pool matches are so important aren't they as you wouldn't want to face all...

Re: where will we finish next season?

We are likely to have so many players involved in the world cup that it's a difficult season to predict. It could go either way for us. The first game is going to be so vital to our confidence and I'm glad it's a home tie. What we have got to start with looks really good on paper but we are into the...

Re: Who will win the World Cup?

Australia if they find a tight five to get them 40% ball and it doesn't rain too much.
Did you spot my cheeky "roos" reference?
acroos the water
They are very talented and your right, if they can find a tight five to compete they will be serious contenders.

Who will win the World Cup?

I always remember the World Cup of 1995. England went into the tournament with high hopes as they possessed an extremely talented side and then Jonah Lomu came along. Even 29 points on the board in the semi-final was not enough to save England and we returned from the tournament with Lomu's exploits...

Re: Staunton's Replacement

What a bizarre post. Perhaps you think Tigers should dispose of their conditioning staff? You sound like a bit of a Welshman with their usual talk of hywl. Dispose! Not at all, we nearly won the title last year. We would have won it only someone forgot to tell Shalk Brits that he was too small when...

Oh yes, the laws of physics!
How exciting that the sport has become ruled by science!
It seems passion counts for very little these days!

Re: Staunton's Replacement

So was Mafi was a very late developer then or was he originally being developed as another giant robotic back player to run over people but his skills became a bit too clumsy so he had to move into a more suitable skill level position, the forwards! Like ex-forwards into back positions but for the o...

Re: Staunton's Replacement

I would be careful about getting sizeist over tackle/playing potential (Teulet for example). Yes, thanks for reminding me of him. It kind of brings us back to the actual topic which was Staunton. He's had alot of stick over his robotic style and I guess he is a prime example of size taking preceden...
