Chisel - mainly because my dad used them a lot when I was little (not on me, I hasten to add).
I also liked it when used use a verb by Paul Whicker (the tall vicar) in Viz e.g. calling his bishop a 'chiselling tw***er'
Pernickety is another good one, used it in many conversations at uni.

In a conference in Heidelberg. Boss calls, wants me to do something. Hotel wi-fi doesn´t let me connect. 90 minutes on phone to help desk. No success. Then a call from France, can I do something for them for a meeting next week. No, because my gosh darned network is rubbish. Grrrrrrr. But at least t...

I saw the big fella at Dublin airport yesterday on his way back with the rest of the Scottish squad. They were looking to get food from a bagel bar, there was a row of people in front of them and they struggled to get through to the counter to be served, despite being in possession of lots of cash a...

What about Have I Got News For You? Always funny, but I'm sure there was a semi scandal some years ago about them knowing the questions beforehand. But, better scripted and funny than spontaneous and not. I can't believe how dire 'Thank God You're Here' is, unbelievable for something with Paul Merto...

Like a few others on this thread I'm a frequent reader of the board but a rare poster. I find it hard to believe that people can get so mardy about something that is, essentially, a bit of fun, and want to run someone out of town who is doing a voluntary job perfectly competently and with a very def...

We won the Heineken Cup....
... according to the club's Annual Report I received yesterday (page 8), we beat Wasps 25-9 in the final. Classic typo error or someone cooking the books? Ha ha. Maybe it was just a bad dream I've woken up from Dallas-style.

Advice from an exiled fellow Nuneatonian living in between Reading and Twickenham - don't bother with London Irish, out of town stadium and a town that's not worth going into. Much better to head to Quins, sample some of the pubs used on international days and then head off into Richmond/Kingston or...

Am I correct remembering that Serevi got picked at 9 for a game, and Oz got shunted over to the wing for the first time. In a rare moment of clarity Barbed Wire justified the move and said something like 'I believe Austin has the talent and speed to be an international class winger'. This was before...

I enjoyed this thread. Just one question for Bill W (respect to you sir); isn't a 1 sigma shift a bit low for assigning statistical significance? I'd normally (ha ha) apply a 3 sigma rule, or possibly a combination of 2 sigma differences, 1 sigma would mean that around 30% of all events in a standar...

Hmmm, I was at the Quins game on Saturday and don't remember that particular scene. As far as I recall the only guy coming over the tannoy was the usual very annoying guy in the silly three quarter length combat trousers. Loudest shouts I heard that day were when the Scotland Italy scores were annou...
