Re: Dean Richards named as new boss of the Falcons

I must be the only Tigers fan who thinks Deano should've had a longer ban, then?

Re: It's Mallett for England then!

Me and my Wuss mate at work were just discussing an article by Chris 'Saffacen' Hewett in the Independent where he calls Lancaster the overwhelming choice etc for England. Matt was incredulous - "can you tell me what Lancaster has done compared with Mallett?" It seems that just like in oth...

Re: Matt O'Connor unhappy with England

I think this world only exists if SL gets the England job. If Mallett or some other vastly experienced international standard coach gets it, the England squad and team may look quite different very quickly.

Re: Same again for England

I will of course happily embrace the improvement when I stop seeing the substantial weaknesses in the set-up: Hartley (how can Webber be an improvement however?) Farrell's tactical kicking and attacking proficiency, anything to do with Barritt etc.
Till then, we're doomed. :smt005

Re: Tait Rumour...

I don't hide behind a pseudonym. My name is John Griffin and that's also the name on the back of my Tiger's shirt. I am a Cockers supporter who is aware of the great man's limitations. I think we need a new backs coach and a defence coach. I thought we had got a gem with Tait and am really sad if it...

Re: Same again for England

........while we're on this topic can someone explain Barritt's role in this team? err......no yards, few tackles..... SL being seriously talked up by the Independent's Hewett who is an inveterate Saffas brown-noser. He lauds the media access and info. Reports that Ritchie is praising SL as well. I...

Re: Same again for England

I am always heartened to know that all the stats in the world cannot tell you the most important one - the final score.

I'm almost reduced to tears over the lionisation of a mediocre England team. If we settle for this we are doomed, I tell you, doomed!

Re: It's Mallett for England then!

I think there are plenty who would want the job but not under the current organisation (RA and some remaining OFs). There are some who would do a good job. If you put some of the experience and records of coaches like Mallett, Smith, White and so on (and Cockers!)up against Lancaster there is no con...

Re: It's Mallett for England then!

Excellent article in the Daily Mail on the subject - "If he were a Bok, a Kiwi or an Aussie, Lancaster would have the job now" . I'm not usually a fan of Martin Samuel as he too much of a sports generalist and doesn't seem to know much about the niceties of Rugby Union, but this article i...

Re: Same again for England

Interesting that those running Mallett down only refer to Italy (and the Italians themselves praise the developments he created and enabled) and not to his Saffa record. Perhaps it suits some of the xenophobes on here to go for Lancaster (although Mallett was of course born here), but IMHO he has on...

Re: It's Mallett for England then!

A good holding job maybe, but barely comparable performances to the MJ team pre WC. We need that international nous that can only come from a coach like Smith and a DOR like Mallett. I'm sick of the journo's even more so in their increasingly obvious London bias.

IMHO not Lancaster and possibly not Mallett for England - and just how is this an imnprovement on MJ's purple patch record and play?

Picking Lancaster will be a HUGE mistake.
