Re: PRC Round 2 - Tigers vs Exeter

One thing that hasn't got enough attention is how good Tom Youngs was. Made a lot of tackles, flew out of the line, and the lineout was very good. I think the scrum is a bit more worrying than people have suggested - this was a premiership frontrow we put out - but I'm sure the issues will get sorte...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Doesn't look like it, haven't done the usual clock image or popcorn with some token '...' We're probably about 9 players short still so you'd think we'd be getting a move on. Agreed. Particularly as we enter the back end of June. It's a bit concerning. I don't think we are 9 players short, more lik...

Pete Burridge (Academy S&C coach) is changing role, so could be connected to that?

Re: 2019 World U20s

Agreed on that. I'm completely on board with being stricter about high tackles but this was very harsh. Initial contact was with the shoulder, and the arm barely made contact with the head afterwards - and the defender literally had a knee on the floor. Thought Vunipola's was tough as well as the pl...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

Taufua is pretty similar to Guy Thompson. They're both sub-190cm, sub-110kg players who play across the backrow. They both carry well but mostly through power and determination rather than size. They're both energetic players with high workrate. And they both like to stand on the wing and run with t...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

I don't think there's anything wrong in principle with signing players rejected from other teams, including those that are ex-Tigers players. The issue is how they fill gaps in our squad and whether they would be willing to do so. So someone like Henry Purdy makes sense - he is a senior, experienced...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19

Do we know anything about where Luke Hamilton is going? Appreciate we don't want to live in the past too much but he is a good hard-working player who can cover the whole backrow, where we're a player short at the moment.

Re: YOUR THOUGHTS ON "GRIZZLY" LAVANINI

I'd agree with that. The stats that make it to these sites are quite crude and comparisons (especially between tournaments, with different stats teams etc) should be taken with a grain of salt. 26 year olds don't have 50 caps for a tier 1 test team by accident. It's worth watching him play if you ha...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

Securing an early release Blommetjies to join our (potentially) growing South African contingent. Mapoe is an odd one, if we’ve already got Reid, Taute, Tuilagi, Eastmond and Viljoen? Do we need a 6th senior centre? Likewise, Jantjes, that’d be a big shift in salary outlay as a replacement for Joe ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

Please can someone who is well-versed in SH rugby give their opinion on Liebenburg and VIljoen? I don't watch any SH rugby. Ps before some smart :censored: posts a link to Wikipedia, I'm asking for people's opinions not the stats that anyone can read! Liebenberg is a regular for the Bulls. Former B...

Re: Tigers vs Bath

No comparison between those two teams regrettably. I can see another embarrassing home defeat, just to finish the season in the style to which we have become accustomed! Obviously very much hope they prove me wrong!!!!!!!! No comparison? Except that we're better at 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12? I a...

Re: Tigers vs Bath

Given the injuries in the squad, Murphy doesn't have a lot of options. But I'd play the strongest squad available, plus stand down HIA players from last week. I think he will play the youngsters - Heyes mentioned on the podcast that he'll be starting. Wouldn't be surprised to see White, SAR, Olowefe...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

So what do people still want? With Harrison likely departing I'm very nervous about our options at 9; neither White or Simmons are really ready for the big time yet and we need somebody to push Youngs for his shirt if we want to see him at his best ever again. Hopefully a specialist openside to rep...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 6

In the model where you have two top class players and a promising younger in each position (a model which I like a lot!), at 8 Fred would fit in nicely behind Kalamafoni and Liebenberg (and maybe Denton, although both him and Liebenberg play a lot at 6). For me that puts him in the position next sea...

Re: Tigers v Bristol - 27th April 2019

Coverage of a recent Gloucester game and they put up Ben Morgan’s stats and he was only 2 ahead of Khalamafoni, who is also right up there in the tackle stats. There is no way if he is match fit, that Khalamafoni won’t be starting on Saturday Yep agreed, would go: 6. Guy 7. BOC 8. Kalamafoni 19. We...
