Other than the 2 Leicester players there is Stewart, Painter and Davidson
Collier is probably a bit too old to start playing for England now
It’s a good point. He is 5 years younger than Cole

I’m sorry but Moroni is no where near the player he was. Certainly wouldn’t be a step up on what is already there

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

This is personal opinion, but i think we will only see a centre coming in for sure, as that is the major hole there. TH i think will be covered by Tim Hoyt, which as 4th choice i am comfortable with. The only question is whether another lock or back row comes in. Personally the answer to that is wh...

I wanna just throw this into the mix Jacob Uamaga fly half ex academy was at Wasps now Benetton (2022) doing well, worth a look He was on the bench today but looked good. That Benetton squad is coming together well doing ok in the URC and just reached the semi of the challenge cup. I don’t think th...

I totally agree about ball carriers. Strongest pack for me next season Smith, Montoya, Heyes , Martin, Chessum, Liebenberg, Reffell Hatherall. 7 of those are capable of carrying for me in varying degrees, sometimes it’s the ruck speeds more than the distance. An issue for me here is Reffell. Compare...

Plus Borthwick had a free pass season to start with! I get fans frustration I just don’t understand the mind set. If Mckellar were to go what happens next season if his replacement fails in the mind of fans, do we get rid of them too, then rinse and repeat until we luck on a successful one. It is n...

Re: Champions' Cup Quarter finals 2024

Watching Clement beat Ulster comfortably. Sharks beating Edinburgh in the other game.
If it stays that way Sharks have elected to play their semi at The Stoop as it can’t be played in South Africa

I agree that it’s a joint responsibility thing and the buck stops with the coach. There are other examples but the one that springs to mind is Shilcock v Gloucester, not his goal kicking, but the Harris try which was caused by him not moving up with the rest of the line which meant he was in a bad p...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I would be interested to know what posters are still unconvinced about re Mckellar.
Often this season results/performances have been down to individual errors or not sticking to the game plan, which imo is down to the players. The coach can only do so much and then players have to hold their hands up

It has been a strange season across the board for results. I would have to look back but I don’t think we have been on the wrong end of a hammering. Last few weeks, Saints, Quins and Saracens have all lost and won by a big score

He may need patience and time, but is he earning that? I’m not convinced he knows what he is doing…. What makes you say that with all his experience. You earn over a period of time were you expecting miracles. Again I cite the examples of the head coaches at Bath and Gloucester Plus Borthwick had a...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

That's what I mean. Standing back we've lost every player in the backs from 2022 bar Youngs, van Poortvliet, Kelly, Steward and Simmons. Are we claiming that WAS part of a plan? We were told, consistently, after 2020 that we were trying to build cohesion & that this was very, very important. I ...

Re: 23/24 Injury/Suspension/Absent International List

I see Guy Porter is now leaving. Anyone know whether he’s actually been injured? Also - Dolly leaving!? What a waste Dolly has had a lot of bad luck with injuries including a recent neck issue. We are well stocked at hooker with Montoya, Clare, and 2 exceptional youngsters in Vanes, and FTT, so it ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

The professionals apparently know what they are doing. It's pretty clear we'll be signing a tighthead prop & lock. We'll probably be fine at hooker but it wouldn't need a massive injury run to end up with a temporary signing. Backrow we could trust the academy for all our needs or make a signin...
