Re: England Lineouts v Aus
I did not hear S. Barnes make anything of the lost England lineouts. In the second game England only lost one of their own lineout??? http://www.espn.co.uk/rugby/matchstats?gameId=289797&league=289234 Well there are stats and stats aren't there? According to the commentators and Sky on-screen s...

Re: Welsh A Team
Although (probably because) it wasn't widely publicised in England, I have just noticed that Wales have brought back their A Team for the 2016/17 season. I think this is great and will certainly help their strength in depth. Wonder how this affects players who currently Welsh restricted by having p...

Re: Welsh A Team
I predict Wales will be wooden spoonists.. their team is well past its sell bye date. the Coaching Team is stale, and there isnt much on the horizon for them in terms of quality. As for Gatland being the Lions Coach, that means we have lost already.. Whilst I agree with you wholeheartedly the A tea...

Re: Will the new Rugby Championship points change come here
Tinkering in the manner proposed still doesn't address the inherent problem of bonus points: it declares that some wins are better than others and some defeats less bad, without taking into account the real achievement of the win. Was our exciting away win in Munster last season really a lesser achi...

Re: Brexit fallout for rugby
Who knows it hasn't happened yet and god willing the powers that be will ignore the vote and refuse to leave which if we did would be an economic catastrophe, as it's already started with a plunge in the value of the pound and a stock market collapse. When will these people who trumpet on (apt word...

Re: Coventry - "City of Rugby ??"
"Coventry - "City of Rugby ??" would have been true 42 or 43 years ago when Coventry reigned supreme! I was at Twickenham when the 'real' Coventry beat Bristol 27-15 (4T 1C 1D 2P to 5P) with such names at Duckham, Pullin, Rollit, Fairbrother, Preece and Rossborough on the pitch. Pre s...

Re: Relegation from the 6N
One thing this thread forgets is history - in fact compared with France, Italy are doing quite well and their record is better than France's was when they first joined the 5 Nations - they took 21 years to beat England. Similarly the record of the first 15 games between Wales and Italy: 12 wins to 2...

Re: Genge for England.
Some story - comes to Tigers under a cloud from Bristol as a fill-in hoping for some game time and a couple of months later on an England tour. Can't wait to hear his and Cockers's reactions.

Re: Irish eyes
The original article is basically in error because the gist of it is simply a claim that: - because Irish teams no longer have an unfair advantage the competition in flawed. As simple as that. He also doesn't even recognize the fact that Irish teams, both province and international, are at the end o...

The only flaw is in your trying to link the two threads, so please now go away and don't try to provoke another contented forum user as you appear to have so many others - you would be wasting your time. Okay, okay, lets keep it simple for now. Can you explain what perceived Irish injustice with re...

Re: Relegation from the 6N
Whilst I agree we need to develop the game and this is one way to encourage the tier 2 nations who did so well at the RWC, the one thing that sticks out is that you end up playing alternate years with 2 home games v 3 away games and vice versa. Not sure how to even this out - you cant play each oth...

Re: Relegation from the 6N
I am somewhat in favour of the idea - preferably a play-off and not every season. At present the European Nations Cup - 2nd level 6 Nations is played over two seasons so it would make sense to play-off for promotion/ relegation at this interval. If the combined records of two seasons were used to es...

Re: Irish eyes
Nowhere near as drab a final as when Leinster killed the game against Tigers in 2009 when they were allowed to get away with murder at the line out by Nigel Owens before he grew up. It just depends on the year and the conditions on the day. Saracens, despite the forum's vitriol in their direction, a...

Re: Harry Thacker article
... Hmmm - so my "arguments about his height's effects on the scrum are somewhat trite!" Firstly, I wasn't putting forward an argument - I was asking a question. The clue was my opening line which began "I have to preface my question..." Secondly, I've never asked this question ...
