Re: Championship rugby

Past history has absolutely no relevance to the situation. It seems dodgy that the committee has taken the stance that Hartpury were not at fault for the cancellation. Maybe someone can dig out the competition rules but every other league award points to the team that wasn't involved in the cancella...

Re: FANTASY SAXONS/ENGLAND SUMMER TOUR 23

For me I’d still want more experience in the test XV, regardless of whether the opposition might be a step down to who we normally play against. Genge Dunn Stuart Ribbans Ewels Martin Dombrandt Earl Randall Ford Devoto Slade Cokanasiga Steward Nowell Obano Singleton Heyes Isiekwe Barbeary JVP Smith...

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021

True. But he's hasn't been in great form for us until recently. And showed little in the six nations as in impact sub. I still think his name not being on the list isn't a surprise.

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021

Genge and Sinckler’s omissions are the puzzlers. How many times does Macko have to get demolished in the scrum before international coaches spot it. Jamie George like many of the Sarries players looked out of touch in the 6N. Sinckler has found his form, and Genge is back to form having wasted too ...

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021

Wish the Irish pundits would stop moaning about Sexton and Ryan. It’s not a slight against Ireland, better players were picked ahead of them. Can’t remember England going mad about Robshaw, Hartley etc You have to remember that they both play for Leinster which dominates almost all the media focus ...

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021

Anyone else think this just highlights how poor NH rugby is these days? England had an uninspired autumn and a dire six nations. Wales were terrible since the World Cup, and even though they won the six nations some of their games weren't great. Ireland haven't been at the races since 2017 Scotland ...

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021

"Gatlands'" first choice 8 are better, it's the rest that are iffy....the 2 "injured" Scots hookers would be a better bet in the not going 23. Without knowing who said not interested, apart from Youngs its difficult to judge some of the selections, well apart from Daly & Maku they are just cuckoo. ...

I always thought we'd have won that if Toby Flood hadn't been injured.
We lost that game when Crane went off injured. We had a 10 point lead but let them get back into it as he was our go to player to carry us out of trouble. He was arguably never the same player after that season.

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021

No Genge would be huge shame and first time since 1968 no tiger on the tour. Not that surprising though when you factor in that our first choice 2, 5 (potentially), 6, 7 (maybe) and 8 are all non-British players. And the backups are all relative youngsters with the exception of Cole who goes the ot...

It does seem like he was capped too soon. He's never been the same player since, IMO.
He was capped in an injury crisis, mind you.
I know, and I'm not blaming him! It just seems like he has never been the same player since he played an international game, for whatever reason that may be.

Re: Ringfencing NOW upon us ?

Is the more telling statistic that of the Championship teams, only Sarries have been in the Premiership in the last 20 or so years. It's certainly another way of looking at it. Of course some have fallen below the Championship like Rotherham and London Welsh. But isn't the question of whether Donca...

Re: Ringfencing NOW upon us ?

Good posts mol2 and CrumblingTerrace Interestingly 8 of the 12 Prem Clubs have been in the Championship and most more than once. And you could argue it either makes you stronger or you simply weren't strong enough. And yes, that is what sport is all about. The argument for ring fencing is all about...

Re: Progress Under Borthwick

I think we're still skinny at 13. Not a huge fan of Taute at 13, and if Moroni gets called up I think it's a weak spot. I know we have utility players than can cover though.
