Re: he is not the messiah at 10 but a naughty boy in attack 12

Don't post often here - but went to the game (exiled in London, so nearby!). Surely the key problem with 12Trees was his basic skills went AWOL under pressure. That he stuggled to control the game at 10 was understandable, but throwing poor passes was not & there were several real shockers. I no...

Re: London based Tigers

Kings Head in Teddington (Saffer landlord) usually has rugby on in preference to football
Just discovered the Kings Head has closed - owning pubco has gone into administration, so don't go there!

Re: London based Tigers

Thanks for the info about the coach DaveJ, unfortunately it's the late arrival back in London that does for us. By the time we got back to the outer reaches of west London it would be midnight & my lad has school exams the following day. The present Mrs Kend doesn't think this is a good idea! Ca...

Re: London based Tigers

As a fellow Tiger exiled in London I also struggle to find a suitable venue - the pubs in Twickenham are a reasonable bet. There are more rugby orientated landlords there than elsewhere & a big choice of pubs, so you should be able to find at least one. I live in the outer reaches of West London...

Re: Ospreys game on in pub in London?!

As a Tigers supporter exiled in London, I know the problem! Can't help with Dulwich, but, as pointed out, pubs in Twickenham generally have the rugby on rather than football and there are plenty of alternatives to try in case some roundyballers get to the landlord before you! The White Swan is a his...

Re: Laws - First Men To The Breakdown?

Arriving a bit late to this, but hasn't the interpretation of the ruck laws changed over the summer - which is why it's currently chaos as the refs try to sort it out? The first player arriving on their feet who gets hands on the ball can now continue to compete for the ball after the ruck has forme...

Re: Leicester fans in London

In exile in Teddington on the edge of West London - grew up in Burbage & still have family there. Still get to WR regularly - my son was born in London but was given no choice about supporting Tigers! Booking trains in advance reduces the outlay. For my local rugby fix I generally head over to w...

Re: SCRUM CAPS - SHOULD THEY BE MADE COMPULSORY?

Sherpa2 - do you have the reference to the article in the Lancet (perhaps the BMJ?) you refer to? I'm not asking to be awkward, I have a genuine interest in risk perception & rugby injuries. The most recent research I am aware of on the use of scrum caps (abstract here: http://tinyurl.com/dbqopu...

Re: SCRUM CAPS - SHOULD THEY BE MADE COMPULSORY?

As a juniors coach, I'm regularly asked by parents whether protective gear causes kids to take greater risks. Given the comments above I thought respondents might be interested in this article - http://tinyurl.com/dexz7a - which is recent research into the subject. Concludes there is no support for ...

Re: And the third contender for Meyers job...

IMHO The board of directors would be in breach of their responsibility if they weren't asking the question "what will we do if Meyer doesn't return?". The press & supporter speculation is surely just an extension of that? Meyer is a highly professional coach in one of the biggest and m...

i wonder what Goodey would have to do to impress? England were losing the game badly when he came on. His initial 'toby flood' moment aside he did exactly what was needed, put some structure and control into the game. Tactical kicking improved immensely, he kicked his points under pressure and got t...

i think the principle that applies here is the 'harm principle'; an individual has the right to do as they please provided it does no harm to anyone else. You can argue what the term 'harm' means, but I think it is reasonable to accept that passive smoking can be considered 'harm to others'. This is...
