Re: Idea on penalties and sanctions

Barnes just carded Curry because of "4 straight penalties" - where is that in the laws? Law 9.10: When different players of the same team repeatedly commit the same offence, the referee gives a general caution to the team and if they then repeat the offence, the referee temporarily suspen...

Re: Idea on penalties and sanctions

Some good ideas there Gethin Exile but also some misguided IMO - Unfortunately some referees still treat their assistants like touch judges and decide to play on when advised of possible offences. Law 6.5.a: The referee is the sole judge of fact and of law during a match. Refs do confer with AR's a...

Re: Sale (H) 23rd October 2021 - 3pm

Dickson was generally poor and is still a sub standard premiership referee. The Montoya try was a no arm tackle by Wood, tackle not completed so try should of stood and Wood a YC. The head on head later in the game which he ignored despite No13 holding his own head afterwards and looked dazed (with ...

Re: Water boys

Well they've been banned for a week anyway. "conduct prejudicial to the interest of the game". https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/58966959 That sends a rather weak signal. Pathetic really. In the community game the rules are all team officials have to be inside the technical area exc...

Nope, the point I made is what law can a non player be cited for? Games are played under laws, matches/leagues are run under rules, just a point of interest!

Re: Water boys

In this case they were behind the goal line where they were permitted and kicked the ball to prevent a quick play. Clock was off so no quick play was possible, be interesting to see what the charge is for back heeling the ball one metre with time off in the dead ball area? Possibly unsportmanlike b...

Re: Kelly cited

Some very green/red/white tinted glasses on this thread!! Kelly did not get a 'shove' from Steward, Kelly had full vision of the player on the ground, had time to pull out but then targeted his head with force, no accident and knew what he was doing so no mitigation in the offence, the only mitigati...

Re: Tigers @ Gloucester - Friday 24th September 2021 - 1945

Been what two people myself included who have said Ford had a poor game. I'm assuming those two people weren't Brian O'Driscoll or Dallaglio who both said post game Fordy had an excellent game. Fordy was also the Premiership @LandRoverRugby Fly Half of the week. I'm always up for a bit of healthy c...

Re: George Ford

If it had been Ben Youngs left out then I could have understood it as Ben hasn’t in the last few games for us show the form he is capable of. With the new rules I expect George will be in the Autumn internationals: he and Smith should be in the match day squads with Marcus able to further develop w...

Re: Nottingham and Tigers announce an formal cooperation agreement

As a Nottingham fan as well as a Tigers fan, I’m not sure about this. This all sounds great in theory but I have no doubt in practice it will be rather more one-sided. Surely it's entirely mutual, Tigers get to give players worthwhile game time, Nottingham get better players to boost their squad wi...

Re: New kit 21/22

To me its a complete mess. Just a jumble of stuff. Not a jumble of stuff but a commercial solution to fund the club. Unless you have one fabulously wealthy owner (Bath) then expect multiple sponsors to top up the coffers. Aesthetics are subjective anyway, it's the badge that matters, when has one s...

According to John Barclay in The Times: ‘Cockers was an agent of positive change at the start, but he was a malign presence thereafter’. Not a positive read for Cockers!

Re: England vs USA - 4th July 2021

When that starting XV face any 6 Nations side then that is the time to judge performances fairly. At best that was more of an exhibition game and a dead rubber for England.
