Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

The announcement is on Thursday and usually the Telegraph have the team a day early so they should have it up by tomorrow afternoon anyway. So not long to wait now. I'd go for: 1.Genge 2.George 3.Cole 4.Itoje 5.Chessum 6.Roots 7.Underhill 8.Earl 9.Mitchell 10.Ford 11.Freeman 12.Dingwall 13.Daly 14.R...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

Sorry Sam, I missed that response until seeing RBs response there. Largely in agreement with RB though. I tend to think that if you can get over the gain line in early phase play then suddenly lots of forwards look like they have better hands. If you can't do that, then having players with the hands...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

Rumours that Juan Martin Gonzalez is on a cut price, one-year deal with Sarries so could be available for next season. He'd be a terrific addition IMO, if McKellar is open to using Hanro more at 8.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

That's absolutely my view. Try to add more physical players and carriers throughout the pack. Rather than replace Wiese like for like. Which we aren't doing, as even if there was one available, we'd be outbid the same as Jasper. Jason Jenkins - There are flaws in his game but that means he won't req...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022

Bath close to signing Jacques du Plessis, would be gutted he's player I think would be great for our depth. If they can get him on the pitch, then yes. A brilliant player before the injuries. There was a period where Montpellier had a strong international 6/lock who was available all season. He was...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

I have read a number of comments questioning his signing, admittedly from the usual suspects, not yourself :smt039 I'm one of them. He was a mainstay of the L.Irish back row and their captain, so I was expecting him to be more of a challenger to Hanro, but I haven't seen that. To my (untrained) eye...

Re: Tigers v Exeter (A) - Premiership - Saturday 23rd December 2023 - KO 3-00pm

Ilione is exactly the sort of player who I can see getting starts due to this sort of injury list and suddenly forcing his way into first choice 23s. In his brief opportunities he keeps making positive and significant interventions. He's clearly got no issue dealing with the increase in physicality....

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

Good player, but we don't need another hybrid backrower, we've got loads of them! We need a no.8. He is an 8 he has played a number of tests there. Number of posters saying move Liebenberg? Plus in Hatherall we had someone who was when fit start last season was starting 8 for the European champions...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

I agree Sam. Posters saying they want a physical 2nd row when we have George Martin who was the best lock in a World Cup semi final that included Itoje and Ezterbeth. We already have that presence though some feel he could be an 8 :smt017 I don't think I have seen anyone say Martin isn't physical B...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

RG Snyman going to Leinster. Which gives them Snyman, Ryan, McCarthy and Molony even if Baird is predominantly used at 6.

If Jason Jenkins is on the move could he be a reasonable target as a physical option in the second row?

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

du Plessis has hardly played since returning to Bulls. Recurring achilles injury I believe. A shame as he's a quality player. He looked like another PSdT with Montpellier over a long period.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

Jasper is a huge loss. He's become such a rounded player but his carrying in traffic is possibly the best in the world. He can turn slow ball into quick ball by smashing over the gain line. Bill Mata is rumoured to be on the market, in contact with Bristol. Akira Ioane hasn't re-signed with the NZRU...

Re: Tigers v Newcastle Falcons (H) - Premiership - Sunday 3rd December 2023 - KO: 3-00pm

Stormers (H) Stade (A) Chiefs (A) Bath (H) Sarries (H) La Rochelle (A) Leinster (H) Quins (A) It's a tough Prem run after this even if they are rotating in the away European games. Sarries and Quins have beaten us already this season. Bath and Chiefs have put in several strong performances. I'd cert...

Re: Tigers v Quins (H) - Premiership - Saturday 11th November 2023 KO: 15:05

We need a back up to Reffell when he is absent. We have one IMO. Ilione. Once again he looked completely at home and made positives contributions in the chance he had. He's an incredible athlete who looks at home in senior rugby, his natural ability over the ball is so impressive and he picks when ...
