Re: Dan McKellar to join Leicester Tigers as Head Coach

If he gets the sort of results that keep him at the top of the list for one of big nations top jobs, then you’d assume things have gone well here, I’d take that. It will also bode well for our next search if the last two incumbents went on to manage their home nations off the back of the work they d...

Re: Dan McKellar to join Leicester Tigers as Head Coach

I know this link has already been posted but this interview with Dan McKellar is a must watch for anyone interested in the man and how he works. He is really impressive and I can totally see why we have gone with him as he is very SB like - attention to detail, person person, forward set piece orie...

Re: Dan McKellar to join Leicester Tigers as Head Coach

Wasps haven't announced a head coach for next season yet have they? I do wonder if he ends up going back there? I also wouldn't blame Brett if he decided to move onto another role. He's been through a lot at the club, and I would have thought should have been named interim coach over Wiggie, so per...

Re: Who should be the next Head Coach / DoR at Tigers?

I’d just seen that Du Plessis had also left his role, perhaps does lean toward him coming if Harrison is off to the England setup. Borthwick - McKellar Sinfield (Defence) - ? Walters (Physical Performance) - Wigglesworth (Attack) - Harrison (Scrum) - Du Plessis? Given that is the list of Borthwick’s...

Re: Who should be the next Head Coach / DoR at Tigers?

I think pragmatic moneyball appointment sounds about right, which I’m actually ok with. Key here will be the makeup of the rest of the staff, as it is quite clear Borthwick ran the ship, but Sinfield and Walters were also hugely influential. If it’s true that the Borthwick cash was ringfenced for co...

The more I read and think about it the more I’m edging to DM. That said, happy with any of these chaps….
Hedging your bets there, two for the price of one in McKellar and McFarland.

Ollie presented Lewis his captain's shirt for the game Vs Scotland. Good article, but there is no way they are both 6ft7, Lewi...

Re: Tigers post Borthwick - next Head Coach?

Key for me is the stylistic approach the new coach wants to take, and more importantly who else he brings in to help him deliver that, from a coaching panel point of view. We have seen close up, how Borthwick getting Walters and Sinfield helped our fitness, mental approach and defence, both structur...

Re: Tigers post Borthwick - next Head Coach?

BBC has Ian Peel from Sarries as the favourite to take over from Cockerill with England, no mention of Harrison.

Re: Tigers post Borthwick - next Head Coach?

It was always on the cards, right from when Borthwick joined and started to build his own team, it was clear he was building an International coaching group. Borthwick himself left Jones international setup in order to make a name for himself as a head coach in his own right. Gustard did it at a sim...

Got to wonder if the timing of the announcement is because we now have a replacement lined up?

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

Equally when we announced Potter, Porter, Kelly, Cronin, Cracknell, Wiese, did we all stand back in awe at these world class additions….. haven’t turned out too bad so far have they, all regulars in the 23 if not the starting 15 in most cases.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

But do big signings win the league? Or does the overall squad quality win it? I think therein lies the point. You fill the squad with superstars and they all go missing during Oct/Nov during AI’s and Feb/Mar during 6N. That doesn’t impact your Champions Cup games, but can be to the detriment of lea...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

These are all players that had to take new contracts midseason. Odd that they’re grouped together, and none of our recruits announced today are players coming off standard contracts. Can only assume that’s a different batch of announcements. Suppose with Theobald Thomas signing, that puts to bed the...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

Were we to let Snyman go, promote Henderson and then look to bring through Tom Manz and Lewis Chessum a bit more that would be good move. Unfortunately Snyman hasn't really managed to remain injury free and make an impact. If Martin is to be a more hybrid role then another backrow (maybe a 7/8) wou...
