Re: Top 5 Most influential Lions players of all time
As always, I think you should judge players with your own mince pies when you have sat watching them a few feet away on the pitch, not reading the tabloids or listening to TV pundits. I wouldn't hear a word said against O'Gara, but whenever I've been pitchside at a game it has been brutally obvious ...

Re: BT VISION to have exclusive Rugby Union broadcast rights
I abandoned pay TV long ago. If I want to see a match badly enough I go to a pub in Hornsea and drink J2O. It works out cheaper over a season!

Re: ..and people complain about our swear filter...
I was humbled to be taught English by a very good author called Stanley Middleton and he was furious (this was in the 60s) that he was told to change Shakespeare's "where the bee sucks, there suck I" to "where the bee lurks there lurk I". Do these people think we're all giggling ...

Strawbs appeared briefly, asparagus didn't show, no sign of apples or pairs.
The farmers have hay that has achieved a pathetic height because, whilst it has been warm, it hasn't been sunny.
But for some reason the wasps are thriving and Jacqui the Jack Russell is killing about 50 a day.

Re: Andy Murray
Murray has always been a very good tennis player who happened to flower in a an era when there were lots of good players around. He puts the rest of English players to shame, and that's because, just like people such as Johnny Wilkinson and Peter Shilton, he puts in the hours when everyone else has ...

Re: Who cares about "green" issues?
Whether the (for us) inconvenient changes are part of the natural ups and downs of nature, or by our wrecking of the countryside, the issue needs to be torn from the hands of politicians. The pathetic proposed measure of putting an extra £10 tax on flights out of Britain was typical of corrupt polit...

This is fascinating stuff. I'm not a twitterer, but someone should tweet Stephen Fry about this. It's ideal for QI.

It's got to that stupid point where an email has gone furiously viral because it has a picture of Tyson Gay crossing the finishing line with his arms outstretched and the word "Gay" showing proudly on his running vest.
For Heaven's sake, it's just a word.

Re: Who cares about "green" issues?
Way back in the 60s a well known nature-watcher on TV commented on the phrase "the balance of nature" by saying there was rarely an actual balance. Things change, shift and move constantly. Of course there is a symbiosis whereby bees like to have a go at the pollen and in doing so help the...

Blimey! I didn't know that was going on. Thanks.
But if it rains a bit in London, then I'm sure the BBC news will be full of it.

Oooo no. She's a lovely girl! But swear filters are pointless. I could (but I won't) write an extraordinarily pornographic story on here without using ant swear words or asterisks. And the swear filter wouldn't catch it. Obnoxious human posters should be banned by moderators. If I get told off by Ri...

Re: Who cares about "green" issues?
I'm no farmer, but the odd rain patterns and a surprising lack of sun (even though it's quite warm)has caused a lack of hay up here. Of course it's got to grow, harvested when it's ready, and dried. Nothing is going right this year. Our hay supplier said he could do do little about anything right no...

Re: Joke Du Jour (3)
A man was playing golf against a vicar and on missing a putt by a matter of inches yelled "Damn! I missed the b******!" The vicar admonished him sternly, and told him that God would hear his every word and punish him if he didn't stop. Unfortunately he repeated the same expletives a few mo...

Re: ..and people complain about our swear filter...
It's another example of people who are there to do a job, not doing it. If your job is to broadcast to millions of people by some media then get it right and don't trust a computer. Few people outside of dressage have noticed, but one of the British medalists was repeatedly depicted across newspaper...

Re: Jason Manford on Trolls
I did consider trolling once when Forest were about to be visited by Millwall (who I assumed were stupid violent scum) so I thought I'd go on their message board and make them mad. But when I read their threads, they were all really nice people! It was all posts like "I love visiting the City G...
