Ryan Shazier's NFL injury: a lesson for rugby?

Not sure how many of you keep track of the NFL but it is worth taking a look at the injury Ryan Shazier suffered in his last game on Monday night playing for the Steelers against the Bengals. You'll see from the film (38 seconds in) that he gets his head slightly in the wrong place. He tries to wrap...

Re: Munster vs Tigers

Frankly I just don’t know who should be in the XV or 23 and therein lies the problem - we don’t know our best team. OK injuries has disrupted us at centre and now Genge and Veainu but you always have 5-10 injuries at any time. The concern yesterday was our pack was completely outclassed and outmuscl...

Re: Could be an interesting 6 weeks!

Could be worse than December after yesterday. We beat Munster at home in 2016, can’t be favourites for the return game next Sunday.

Re: Could be an interesting 6 weeks!

After reading the various comments ahead of tomorrow's game I thought I'd check back to last year and came across this unfortunately rather prophetic string from last year. 7 games, 1 win (H) to Munster. This time we head into December on a 2 game losing streak and the next 5 games are Munster (A), ...

Re: Tigers v Castres

Best first 50 mins I can remember for a long, long time. Brilliant. As regards giving up the TBP to Castres. We were calling this on the terrace with 20 mins to go and I have to wonder if the coaches were too. Scott11 is right, it keeps them interested for their next home game against Racing which w...

Re: Tigers v Castres

Happy with that team. Owen in the centres is fine. Val at 6 and K at 8 is probably preferable to the other way round. Seems a determination to stick with experience in the second-row. Not sure about Joe Ford on the bench. Anyone know how many minutes he has played this season off the bench. I'd gues...

Re: Tigers v Castres

Thompstone instead of Tait on the bench Not for me. I think Tait has looked good coming on and he gives you options at centre and 15. I'd prefer to ease Thompstone back into the first XV via the muppet cup and subsequent league games in Nov. Make no mistake, for me he is an important part of the ji...

Re: Racing 92 vs. Tigers

Worrying if an international 10 like Ford doesn't fancy a kick bang in from of goal from inside the oppositions half... Haven't checked back if it gained a lot of comments but Toomua's awful drop out in the first half gave them great field position and led to a try for them shortly after. Agree with...

Re: Racing 92 vs. Tigers

Yes but by that logic, why did we kick to the corner when we had a penalty with 15 mins to go? What's the difference getting it back to 18-22 with 15 mins as opposed to 5 left? Last 20 mins they couldn't get out of their half. Even if we'd kicked to the corner and they had regained the ball they wou...

Re: Racing 92 vs. Tigers

In a word 'frustrating'. Played some really good stuff at times. But the lineout creaked. Seriously, when did we last have a 5m lineout and dominate to score a try via forwards grunt? I don't understand the kick to goal with 5 mins left when the score was 15-22. We turned that option down and kicked...

Re: Racing 92 vs. Tigers

Guardian also have us as their pick to win the pool https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theg ... pool-guide

Can't see that happening without a win today. 9/2 to win the group incidentally. Must have been 16/1 four weeks ago.

Re: Racing 92 vs. Tigers

Good team but feels on the 'safe' side. I get that for a big game like this you'd tend to pick your experienced players, but Kitchener hasn't been one of our best performing locks this season. Can't argue with the backline but with no O'Connor or Evans in the XV how do we steal any ball at the break...

Re: Racing 92 vs. Tigers

Yep French teams are hard to beat at home, but I think Saturday is a MASSIVE opportunity. They have certainly dropped off from where they were 18 months ago. Lost their last home game to Lyon. Tigers on a 4 game win streak and able to bring some players back after a rest: Genge, Youngs brothers, Vea...

Re: London Irish v Tigers

Strange old game but let's be clear, we were always winning that despite the score line. First 45 mins were very good especially from a much altered side plus a pre-match disruption [late change at 15]. Add in the enforced pre-break change losing 2 more players! Not exactly ideal for continuity all ...

Re: Pub Recommendations for pre/post match.

Bricklayers Arms on Welford Road is probably the best local pub pre and post games. Lots of TVs available to keep track on whatever sport is going on. Plus a DJ playing soul, motown, 80s, funk on Tigers game days from 6pm. Nice to see this venue doing so well, 4-5 years ago it was often never open o...
