Re: Tom Youngs Charged

Bit harsh, Ding Dong. Ian did seem regretful. Standards of self restraint have slipped all over. There are few stiff upper lips to be seen except in the over 60s. I'm sure we would all generally be quietly sympathetic to the footballer chap who had a heart attack but I thought we were in for a repe...

Re: Tom Youngs Charged

Sadly I booed the officials too on Saturday as they were very poor from the off with obvious knock ons, infringements at the line out missed for both sides: this was then compounded by the ref repeatedly giving warnings about the “ the next offence is a yellow” wasting valuable time at the end shou...

Re: THE BIG ONE - Wasps (A) - 12th June 2021

Don't penalty kicks and conversions have a 1 minute time limit from when the ref blows for the penalty or try? I know that George has been known to use the full minute to wind down the clock near the end of a match, just not 100% certain when it starts. 60 seconds playing time for a penalty. 90 sec...

Re: THE BIG ONE - Wasps (A) - 12th June 2021

what exactly is the result of a failure to "use it" in time? scrum or free kick? If more than 5 seconds has elapsed and... The ball is unplayable at a ruck or tackle its a scrum to the side going forward. The ball is unplayable at a maul it's a scrum to the side not in possession at the '...

Re: Tom Youngs Charged

It will be for using foul and abusive language at the referee for which Hartley/Sinckler et al have been banned in the past. No matter the reason you cannot swear (repeatedly in this case) at a ref - end of. Totally different behaviour to that of Lam's manipulation(!) of the facts.

Re: Refereeing Consistency

Top 6 English refs - no5 will rub a few of you up the wrong way, but anyway... 1. Christophe Ridley - the most consistent, objective and focussed ref for a long while 2. Wayne Barnes - his comms, empathy and experience are an example to all refs 3. Matt Carley - set aside his whining comms he remain...

Re: Wigglesworth

...Crane was a far more multifaceted player than we ever got to see in a Tigers shirt. So true, eventually Cockers boring game plan was simply route 1 until we got knackered and gave it away. Crane was solid at the base and always reliable, shame that he had so many more skillsets than that which h...

As fit as Burns is, I doubt he'll be any where near the the level Aled and Borthwick require which will take time, enjoy Hawaii while it lasts Freddie!!

Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat

My wife's married to a rocket scientist..... Wouldn't trust her to make one! 😇😇🤣🤣 Sara is very knowledgeable about rugby. Is her being a woman problematic? No..... But being related to expertise does not guarantee you have it. Male or Female. Nepotism has made some dodgy appointments. Elgans job is...

Assuming you're referring to the daughter of former Wales and Lions player Elgan Rees, and also the wife of Ireland and Lions player Simon Easterby, then she certainly has more rugby knowledge than most on this forum so i'd suggest you be less patronising.

Wigglesworth? too slow now IMO but maybe his vast experience will steady the nerves for a lot of players. Great looking squad.

Re: Refereeing Consistency

Refs do not wilfully ignore the rules. Simply not the case, refs wilfully and admit to ignoring laws. I remember a couple of years ago Barnes explaining why he is not bothered about a crooked feed as his priorities are elsewhere in the scrum. If you really think refs don't ignore the laws the why i...

It's good that the AR's constantly 'chirp', they are a team and need to communicate info that may assist the ref it what he has missed. The issue is the lack of credibility in many of their chirps, and also the lack of vision in others! They are full-time professional referees assisting another ful...
