Re: Leicester Tigers 2017/18 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread!

Kyle Trainer is definitely at Tigers - he was playing pool with Ellis Genge, George McGuigan and Dom Ryan on Thursday (via Twitter).

Re: Gareth Owen - New Signing From Scarlets

Based on those highlights he has a deft left foot (always useful), runs straight and can give a scoring pass - something Roberts and Betham never demonstrated, I'm afraid.

Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread 4

Gareth Owen was very unlucky that a bad knee injury interrupted his career and Scarlets now have a surfeit of centres. He was in the same Wales U20 group as Halfpenny, Jonathan Davies and Tipuric. We need these kind of players in our squad and a classy centre with a kicking game, who can also fill i...

Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread

Mark Wilson is under contract for another year. Allegedly, we're interested in him after that - not this season.

Re: Ellis Genge - a target for refs?

My son (who obviously lip-reads better than me) said that Ellis called Tuquiri a p***k, amongst other things after being shoved. I think the ref did well to calm him down and say that he'd deal with it. We joked that Julian would have probably lamped him! In all seriousness, this was another occasio...

Re: Pre Season

If you look at the Matt Hampson promo photo last week, Manu was in training kit and boots.

Re: JPP

JPP was on the receiving end of a thoroughly reckless shoulder-charge from Tom Curry and it's a measure of his toughness that the Sale youngster came off very much worse and had to leave the pitch with concussion. If it hadn't been for a try being scored immediately afterwards, there would have been...

Betham - like Rizzo - just 'resting'. They both took a full part in the public Captain's Run this morning.

Re: Good Friday training session at Welford Road

I remember going to something similar a couple of years ago. You get to watch the Captain's Run, which is fairly low key, but interesting. I imagine it might be more interesting this time, in view of MOC's arrival.

Re: Ford / Toomua

On the basis of trying to go for a glass half full approach, it would be great to see Tigers adopting the Brumbies' strategy of using Toomua for penalties to touch because of the length he gets on his kicks.

Re: OTY

Some perceptive line-out comments above: in the same vein, I have no idea why we didn't, at any time, man-mark Parling, despite almost every ball going to him and Chiefs having few other good options. Surely, we could have tried the tactic of Croft following him everywhere? On most occasions, he see...

You're right about the spelling, which always led me to believe that we should actually be saying 'Vy-ee-noo' - until I found THIS:

Don't forget that (putting it round the other way) Toomua is a 12 who is a very useful 10.

Re: The search for an 8 continues

Have to say, Picamoles looked lumberingly average for Saints last night - IMO a big ball carrier isn't everything!
