Re: International Eligibility

For me, the passport idea is a total non-starter - there is not a separate passport for Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales and I am sure that the Northern Irish lads would still want to play for the united Irish team rather than become a tier 2 or 3 nation. Neither is the grandparent thing - get r...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I've been trying to find out how many senior games Beets has played, but can't seem to find anything. The only stats are for his SA U20s appearances. Anybody know? I believe it is because it is none. The usual databases don't have anything for the Currie Cup & he definitely hasn't played URC. L...

Re: International Eligibility

I would have thought that the Kolpak agreement should have ended with Brexit. Otherwise, to get a work permit players would have to demonstrate being of international standard to qualify. For me there are too many good but not outstanding Kolpak players in the league. Are average players raising th...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I thought that there won’t be any clashes with international /premiership matches next season so don’t think we need another lock with Martin, Chessum x2, Henderson, Wells + Hatherall able to play there By my maths there will be at least three clashes with the international rest windows next season...

I would rather we bring in someone like this with a longer term view than another short term churn! You can bet your bottom dollar he's got great potential, wasn't Jasper's signing outside the box if I remember correctly, didn't turn out too bad! While I agree there is no guarantee it would mean th...

Re: Tigers v Gloucester - Premiership Cup Final - Friday 15th March 2024 - KO:7-45pm

Having watched the Under 20s game today, I thought Carnduff had another really good game and was a little unlucky not to get MOM. I agree with many people that young guys like Illione, , Carnduff, Chessum Jnr, need to be given a shot ahead of the likes of Carter and Rogerson in these types of games...

Re: Tigers v Gloucester - Premiership Cup Final - Friday 15th March 2024 - KO:7-45pm

Interestingly while looking at the regulations noticed 6.4 A Club may not play or select as a replacement in any Match more than two Foreign Players and more than three Loan Players. Just wondering on the definition of foreign players in this instance? It's not EQP players as Liebenberg, Carter and...

They are missing a few as well, but I agree about props hopefully Hurd is fit as I can’t see England releasing Heyes. Back row will be key too as their first choice will be available. Depending on fitness I would go Brown Bassett Scott Kelly OHC Shilcock Whitely Whitcombe Clare Hurd Wells Carter Li...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Fissler's sources with Tigers have changed but not in the way you think. Steve and the club used to take prospective players or coaches to the Costa Coffee in Oadby for a debrief after they had visited Oval Park. Only problem with that is there used to be someone working at the Costa who knew their...

Fissler reporting Quins are attempting to "gazzump" us for Pereise. More concerningly he states "The Tigers, who have met with several players from the Premiership, United Rugby Championship and Super Rugby, are yet to get a deal across the line." Now perhaps I'm guilty of over r...

I do know what you mean.

But it is a very good thing to have once you've got the power, technique & discipline you need.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

Based solely on appearances you could easily let go Porter, Watson, Dolly and see zero impact. Now ofc it’s a bit simplistic as others could be injured next season and they could be fine. The message from Andrea and others is that we don’t need the same size of squad any longer due to 10 game prem ...

Re: The Rolling Maul Podcast - Special Guests - Latest: Andrea Pinchen

The term professional would imply that they do it as a job for a financial reward. It was a well put together podcast by two knowledgable rugby fans and Andrea Pinchen answered the questions that were put to her, without breaking any confidences. I did not intend to imply they got financial reward ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

As a 2nd choice, Cronin is great... But further limiting Whitcombe’s game time? Tricky one TBH I think this is a classis one where the young player just has to be better. Cronin isn't a world beater & he's a clear target for Whitcombe to over take. If he'd going to be a test player then he need...
