Re: Tigers v Exeter (H) - 29th September 2012

Through a combination of retirements and injury we seem to be down to one fit number 6, Brett Deacon? Croft, Mafi, Noone all injured We also seem to be reduced to two fit number 8's, Waldrom and Crane? One of whom is going to play at 6 which he has never done before in a Tigers shirt? Slater selecte...

Re: Farrell lured by 'big match atmosphere'

I still think it is an absolute disgrace that a player who has played virtually no Union, is coaching the national side merely so that the RFU can get a return on the money they shelled out to subsidise his move.

Unbelievable. It still infuriates me...rant over.

Re: Richard de Carpentier

He is probably still rehabilitating his back after undergoing disc surgery. I haven't seen anything to confirm it but I believe he has signed for Nottingham.

Re: George Ford

Ah, well wasn't aware of that. Though given the chorus of complaints we usually hear around the topic from the Coaches and the absence thereof this autumn, it sounds very feasible.

Apologies for misinformation :-)

Re: Injury update

Word is that Mafi is out, Jouss is out, Noone is out, Joost, took a nasty knock toward the end of the game last night so not suprised to hear he is out. Got up clutching his right arm after a big collision. I believe that Tait and Forsyth are (finally) ready to play, possibly as early as Monday in ...

Re: George Ford

He waived it last Xmas as the players had been away so much during RWC. It was made clear at the time, waiving the rest period, which England are entitled to demand for the senior EPS squad, was an exception based on the circumstances at that time. However it is still in the agreement between the RF...

voice of the crumbie wrote:The point is Thomas is a gain line breaker and Jordan playing as he does is not. What puzzles me is, that with our most effective line breaker, Manu, out through injury, why we didn't start with Thomas.
Now that IS a good question.

Re: Jordan crane

After Salvi and Youngs, Crane was our best forward. He added much needed grunt, made his tackles and made the hard yards. Waldrom offered a good impact option but if Crane is fit I'd start him at 8. Well, we are all entitled to our opinion, I would choose not to agree with yours re the Waldrom/Cran...

Re: George Ford

I couldn't agree more. I also appreciate that RC has a difficult job to do but sticking with Flood when he is so palpably out form, in the hope that he will play himself into form, seems somewhat optimistic. Surely better to let him rediscover his best form on the training pitch not in the glare of ...

Re: Tigers v Quins

Who is in line to take Fords place if he were to pick up an injury. Perhaps Cockers is protecting him , knowing that Flood is going to be away with England Bowden and Cornwell are both fully fit and able to play 10. Protecting George is the right thing to do but getting him some game time and ensur...

Re: George Ford

I think I am correct in saying that AP weeks 4,5 and 6 are designated as an EPS "rest weekend". Meaning that every member of the senior EPS squad is required to take a weekend off at least one of those weekends. We saw Manu not play last weekend so while that was through injury, that will ...

Re: A team and Matthew Tait

Also went to the game and as RWA says, forwards couldn't impose themselves on the Glos pack. Scrum and Maul never achieved parity though line out went well although not heavily contested. Credit to Stevens and Cain for line out success, Stevens also lively in the loose. Terrible start by Tigers and ...

Will Greenwood on England's fly half quandary

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/international/england/9544279/Fly-half-conundrum-leaves-England-with-a-difficult-choice-over-Owen-Farrell-or-Toby-Flood.html Look at the statistics of last season at club level and England’s quandary comes into clear focus. Hodgson started 13 Premiership g...

Re: Saracens vs Tigers Saturday 15/09/12 3:30

Probably not fair to single out AA as having a poor game as Barrit was similarly anonymous and perhaps they just cancelled each other out? Of far more concern was Flood's play. I certainly criticised, and stand by it, Owen Farrell last season as being selected solely for his goalkicking but that is ...
