Re: Bath vs. Tigers - Sat 25 Jan 15:00

by LE18 » Sat Jan 25, 2020 5:21 pm Did Simmons get on, if not, why not? SHs don't do 80+ mins, that's the second time! Is summat up there? I'm starting to think so! :smt013 Maybe Simmons didn't come on because White played well and the more experienced player was seen as the right one to get throug...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

Are rugby and football contracts fixed term contracts? Is this why contracts are often for 4 years or less, as they do not attract redundancy payments as per the attached? https://archive.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=4587 I would think that any early termination, would attract notice pay, but o...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

Surely if a players contract is terminated early and paid up then they have effectively been paid a for the duration of that contract and hence there would be no saving. I'm not sure, there's nothing in the rules that says compensation for early termination of contract would be counted. Usually, co...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2

with Harrison leaving after tomorrow, is his cap spent for the season or do we get the remainder back? He must be on a decent wage so that would free us to make another signing Salary caps work on the total amount actually spent in the season - not the projected amount. So we "get back" t...

Re: Nigel Wray Gawn

What would happen if we were caught manipulating the cap, would that be ok? Definitely not OK - as that would show the incompetency of the club is even greater than we all think. After all, Saracens manipulated the cap and then won stuff; if we have manipulated the cap and ended up second bottom of...

Re: Scrums of comfort

Still think having a solid scrum is essential - England's failings in the World Cup final really started with the scrum. We beat Harlequins thanks to our scrum (and having one of their players yellow-carded for it). Doesn't mean you need a dominant scrum, but being able to not go backwards (on all p...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

Notwithstanding press speculation, I would have thought the investments involving Itoje and Farrell would not contravene the SCR as they are (presumably) the marquee players and their remuneration is exempt from the cap calculation. Quite possible - in which case the other three players are getting...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

Hmmm so does that mean that Wray only invested in year one..... but since that the players involved continue to reap whatever profits accrue from their companies? As per my post above, I expect that’s exactly what’s happened. There has probably been multiple investments over the years, but they kne...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

This from BBC Sport: How the hell can it be possible, with the squad they have, given they are no longer able to use the shared companies scam? Have their stars taken a massive cut in salary? I have no insider knowledge, but using the facts available, the level of fine is £3 per £1 "in breach&...

Re: Borthwick

I wonder if the problem for any incoming coach is whether we spend too high a proportion (of the salary cap) on a handful of players leaving diddly squat for the rest of the squad? Perhaps. Maybe we could come up with a scheme where we help them by setting up and investing in some joint companies w...

Re: Will anyone want to buy the club??

The other thing is that with a salary cap in place there should be limited benefit to being owned if sufficient funds can be made via sponsorship. For me the biggest benefit is there will be a change of Board and almost certainly a change of CEO. Any acquirer will want to bring "their" pe...

Re: Will anyone want to buy the club??

I've heard many rumours that offers have been placed with the club but been rejected as not meeting the price PT wants. To be honest, with the results as they are, and the crowd figures going south, PT will be lucky to get anything for the club. If Tigers were listed on the stock exchange, their pr...
