Re: Leicester Tigers 2017/18 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread!

Interesting reading the difference of opinion. Personally I think a fit Slater can be as influential as Manu. Will Slater stay fit, well if Manu can then surely so can Slater! Will either ever reach previous heights? Parling did it for the Chiefs! It's stick or twist! Wow that's a hell of a stateme...

Re: Telusa Veainu!!

I will wait to see exactly how often he figures in the starting 15. I have a sense of unease about several aspects of the forthcoming season. I know what you mean. Our backs look exciting if we can keep the centres fit but can we dominate up front to get them good quick ball. I guess we will know t...

Re: Leicester Tigers 2017/18 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread!

Silly to let McCaffery go given just how many new players are into the unknown and how average some that are retained are. He provides a guaranteed level. Lost count of the amount of defensive turnovers within five metres of the try line he made, someone else will need to seriously step up! I had a ...

Re: Starting 15 Next Season

Leicester's 23 looks extremely good on paper.
Beyond that it's flaky IMO!
A lot of new signings and if they all work out well then Leicester will be up there seriously challenging, if not then it's just a question of just how much the depth is tested.

Re: Watching the Lions

Can I buck the trend by being positive please? The Lions won a test match in New Zealand against the mighty All Blacks!! That's brilliant!! :smt026 I enjoyed it enormously. Even with the red card, there was still a job to be done. And the Lions just about did enough, but that's all it takes. I for ...

Re: Watching the Lions

I thought the 14 All Blacks were in control until a few changes occurred in particular AWJ who clearly doesn't justify a place. The English players did well in the main, Mako may get some comments against but IMO he along with a few others had a real go and gave the All Blacks a bit of their own stu...

Re: Watching the Lions

Not the Lions team I'd be opting for in the circumstances but then I never really understood several selections from the off, not the best players available from Britain and Ireland to play tight or loose in many cases in my opinion so what the Lions tactics actually are is anybody's guess! The Lion...

Re: Watching the Lions

I don't think the Lions have the right personnel on tour to beat this All Blacks side. IMO no-one is gong to score heavily against that All Blacks team so the Lions need to be as good at defending as they were at scoring that wonderful try from deep yesterday. I didn't think the Lions were tight eno...

Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread 4

Astounded is the word. Do you really think a professional rugby player would get a cap for his country because his father was on the coaching staff ? Oh yes, it's not just simply a rugby thing but the way of much of the world in general! Entire nations have been done this way let alone a minority s...

Re: Which Lions might get near the All Blacks 1st XV ??

To answer the OP I think quite a few might get near but IMO none would get into a 1st XV. I think the Lions players are obviously very good individuals but all are not as complete players for one reason or another. If I was young and wanted to play rugby then what better place to go and learn than i...

No real selection surprises for me.
If the Lions win then Gatland will have been right, if they lose he will also be right!

Re: England Under 20's

The players missing made little difference, they would've suffered a similar fate. However impressive NZ were, that is total speculation. And it's hard to imagine that losing 8-10 starters had no significant impact. No team - particularly at age grade - can easily cope with losing so many first cho...

Re: England Under 20's

We were missing something like 10 first choice players through illness and being called up to the main squad, however it was like watching a bunch of September borns against July borns in youth rugby. The size and power difference was horrifying, it defined men against boys..... The players missing...
