Re: Shazzam

Well, he came on for the last five, to much cheering, put in for a scrum (twice) & hoofed the ball out of play to end the game. And he left on the back of a bonus point win. Sentimental at the end? Yes, and I'm glad we're a club, a family club, that can do that - there's still a place for it in ...

Shazzam

Whatever happens on Saturday (& with that 23, in other times I'd expect a bonus point win), it's nice to see Sam in the replacements for the last time.

Whatever the state of the game, I hope Geordie sends him on for at least the last ten minutes, so we can thank him. He's served the Tigers well.

Fixtures calendar 2019-2020

Is anyone else having trouble syncing the e-cal with their calendar? Previous years I've downloaded both home & away without any problem. This time, on clicking "sync with calendar" the screen goes grey - and stays that way. Nothing uploads to my calendar. I'm using a 6yr old 3rd gener...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million

Cohen has stated that the sale will help Tigers return to be one of the top teams. Yet in the same interview, he states that as Tigers have always spent up to the salary cap, the sale won't have any effect on the team on the pitch. Things don't add up here... are you familiar with the term: "n...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million

I note this has been done after all the ST wheeling & dealing has been concluded. I renewed ours 2nd June but, if I'd known this, would not have. This isn't investment; it's selling Tigers down the river to benefit the pockets of the current majority shareholders, and it STINKS. It signals Tige...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million

some People on here have gone full OTT mode. To be expected quite really, and until we know more there is nothing but to do but speculate. Neither OTT nor speculation. I retired from a career in business (construction) & know how & why companies are bought & sold. It's not for the benef...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million

Mrs G first reaction: won't be Leicester Tigers any more. Minor shareholders? We're they consulted? :smt017 JG, I agree with her. Tigers was a club where non-playing players mixed & chatted with the supporters. We were successful on the pitch & off, but more importantly, there was a "c...

Re: Sir Barnes

Guess he will team up with BT Sport. It would be nice if, similar to Spreaders, he got involved with coaching. Not the laws, but how to manage the players & promote a flowing game. After the number of TMO calls last game, I know one referee who'd benefit from an old hand's wisdom. But one more ...

Re: Challeng Cup 19/20

God I shed a tear when I look at those group of teams! As in "how are the mighty fallen?", or the perceived 'lower class' of some compared to Tigers' former standing (I've not phrased that well). Well, it'll make a change from seemingly playing Ulster, Munster, Leinster, Racing & Ospr...

Re: Peter Tom - retirement from Breedon

Sorry PGD, you just beat me to it and my post duplicates yours. I did contact the Mods to suggest they merge the posts into one thread.... It will be interesting to see which way Mr Tom now goes with Tigers. I hope he still has the energy and desire to sort out the current problems, and, as you sug...

Peter Tom - retirement from Breedon

In my construction industry newsfeed today: Peter is retiring from the chairmanship of Breedon. When I was site materials engineer for a county council on motorway reconstruction projects, late 70s / early 80s, Bardon Hill was a one quarry operation owned by the Tom family. I knew Peter's late broth...

Re: GROUNDS

The Rec, yes, happy memories with friends of the blue & black persuasion. Very close 2nd is the Millennium/Principally: a stadium in the heart of a rugby mad capital city with an atmosphere (inside & outside the ground) you couldn't buy with gold. Everything Twicks ought to be & isn't. W...

Re: Thoughts & conclusions on the season.

As we've no Euro pool games next season, when Tigers office phone me next time (I've had two so far) to remind me I've not yet renewed our STs, I'll be asking if the price is going down by 75 quid each.

Re: It was 10 years ago...

Horrified to think Castro might've had to kick a ball... I'll bet Castro wasn't happy either. Finished up after the game in an Italian with a number of Blues fans, singing our way through the Tom Jones songbook (assisted by a lot of red wine). What rugby's about.
