Re: Howard to mentor Murphy
When Bob Dwyer went and Deano was appointed there were some who even after 7 trophies in five years thought he had just been lucky. Some would have him back even though his team had a worse season than Tigers. When Cocker took over and lifted the club up the Premiership, won several trophies there w...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation
Problem is that the investment in business money appears not to be from Saracens accounts, it is personal investment by Nigel Wray so not subject to Premiership audit, it may be a bit of a fiddle but it is a clever fiddle not in the spirit of the cap agreement but probably not illegal. If one of our...

Re: Elitism in Rugby
In Leicester in the 50's & 60's many Secondary Modern schools played rugby as did Intermediate and Grammar Schools although more were known as soccer schools when the system moved to Comprehensive kids from Primary schools that had had no exposure to rugby naturally chose to play football so the...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million
Should the Leicester City owners be interested in purchasing Tigers it would obviously make business sense to have both teams playing in the same stadium, primacy of tenure would not be an insurmountable factor as safety restrictions and the police do not permit us playing on the same day. There cou...

Re: Ringfencing finally here?
Premiership teams, for safety reasons are not allowed to play against teams two divisions below them. A full time professional scrum will probably be far to strong for a pack made up of part timers and amateurs and there would be a strong possibility of someone getting seriously hurt.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD
Has sam16111986 actually seen the facilities at Oval Park, the fitness and recovery suite etc to compare it with Loughborough. I have not myself seen much more than the pitch where we play A League matches at Loughborough, I have no doubt that they have excellent running tracks and multi-sport facil...

Re: Players retirement
Young people are often idiots when judged by an older generation. Not all top rugby players or sportspeople generally are academically gifted and suited to further study after the school leaving age. Participation in established training times with a professional club may not be possible or compatib...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million
Whilst agreeing that Peter Tom is knocking on a bit, he is even older than me, I am not sure what relevance that has to his ability to run the club, young people are capable of cock-ups as well. The Board is made up of eleven people ranging from the relative youth of Ben Kay to the age of the Chairm...

Re: Ringfencing finally here?
The gap between Premiership and Championship rugby is huge that is why a promoted team has to recruit heavily before starting their Premiership campaign even then they usually struggle. The chances of Championship winners beating the bottom Premiership team are slim as we found when a similar system...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million
Peter Tom played for the club in the 1960's he was a committee member after his playing days and when the game went proffessional and we became a PLC he invested heavily in the club and was no doubt a guarantor behind loans as we purchasec our ground and land around it and invested heavily in improv...

When we played Toulon the Away Supporters Club went by coach to St Pancras and
Eurostar to Paris, TGV from to Paris Tulon, I took about 140 people and didn't lose any body, except Paul who brought Brenda's passport.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD
On holiday in France at the moment and having jus returned from an exhausting hot day on the beach and started drinking something long cool and alcoholic I feel the need to explain myself. I am an optimist at the start of each season, last year I looked at the team and thoght with those backs we can...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD
Many people criticised recruitment in recent years, the implication being that the players were not good enough. Thney then expected the coaches to win something with those players. There are now changes being made to the squad but some fans (many of whom complained that we sacked coaches) do not wa...
