Re: Tigers v Treviso Number 8's Crane or Robert Barbieri???

he made a superb pass under pressure and created Pearce's try...? Crane has always shown signs of playing like this over recent seasons, but always seemed to be told to just bosh it up. I hope Crane excels under Mauger, because his solidity at the base of any breakdown mixed with this style of offl...

Re: Interesting citing....

any gouging doesn't look deliberate. By choosing to grab somenones face (eye area) from behind and pull back with enough force to put him to the floor is deliberate, and therefore is malicious. Ashton's only hope is that no camera footage shows his fingers over the eyes, but all the same you'd have...

Re: Wayne Barnes gets the push!

Maybe he should've adopted the Dan Cole method of ref reminders, he wouldn't forget that in a hurry!

Re: Interesting citing....

It was a flat hand pushing the guy to the floor at all times. Which is why I guess the player lay on the floor straight after holding his face, then complained of gouging to the coach and referee, make sense now :smt017 Ashton has no business pulling (not pushing) a player from behind with his fing...

Jimmy Skitz wrote:refs need to be reminded of their responsibility regarding their positioning, the Ref against Treviso stopped a Tigers attack remember by getting in the way of a pass
And you don't think they do and that accidents occasionally happen? Barnes was positioned just fine, as was Whitehouse.

Re: Interesting citing....

Dayglo's commentary says Ashton had nowhere else to grab Marshall And that's the sort of bumbling ignorant squit Dayglo spurts out constantly. Ashton's left arm was first around the neck, then the right arm came in deliberately over his face to finish off what was another cheap shot from Ashton yet...

Which is exactly what Tom did in the Treviso game, and no more or less than Harley or George did this weekend.

Re: Confused

I think the Treviso players would justly feel aggrieved that the ref blew his whistle momentarily before Thompstone took the quick throw. A blow on the whistle indicates a stoppage in play. Secondly, it could be debated that 2 or more Treviso players were marking the line out before it was taken the...

Re: Final Penalty v Saints...

in theory, he has every right to step over the pile and form the ruck by binding onto the scrum half and driving him away from the ball But not in practice Andrew, the ball was still in the ruck therefore he has no right to play anyone else NOT in the ruck until the ball is out. Because he was off ...

So, Matt Smith should've had the same 3 week ban when he got elbowed by Harlley?

Tom Youngs should've had a 1 week ban for being punched by Ma'afu?

Both provoked a reaction, good luck with that one!

Re: Embarrassing--- 3 penalty Tries ----we need new props !!

Ryan Jones's analysis on Rugby Tonight had it about right. It was a combination of poor technique from front row to back row. The split between LH and Thackers was one of the main issues, and that has nothing to do with the conditions. Overall we were inconsistent and naive, in particular to playing...

So a player gets a heavier ban for simply grabbing a leg? You must've had a hard upbringing Bill!!!

Re: Officiating

Norfolk and Goode's theory defies the law of gravity, if a player is holding the ball then of course it is going down as it makes contact with the ground, you can't press up on the ball and were it sideways it would be a push. Not my theory Boy Dave but fact according to WR, hence Law 22.1(a), whic...

Re: Officiating

G.K. Omits to mention - Law 22.1 (a) Player touches the ground with the ball . A player grounds the ball by holding the ball and touching the ground with it, in in-goal. ‘Holding’ means holding in the hand or hands, or in the arm or arms. No downward pressure is required. the ground with the ball. A...

Re: Officiating

The excellent Nigel Owens shows great temerity in the use of the TMO, he constantly backs himself in some decisions regardless of the TMO's request. Whilst this is to be greatly admired, put yourself in the shoes of the side that is 4pts up and the opposition score a try in the last play for which t...
