Re: Tigers Coaching Team - 2023/2024 Season

Liking the look of that setup. I liked the makeup of the setup under SB, Kev inspirational, and Aled a master of his craft. Glad to see we have recruited well to fill the gaps. DMK looks like he has a trusted lieutenant in Palmer, who himself has a very good reputation. That could prove to be a very...

Re: Tigers Coaching Team - 2023/2024 Season

So if McKellar has name checked Palmer in the past, would he be in contention. Also Petrus Du Plessis who worked with DM for Australia and recently stepped down.

That’s the sort of addition I think we should be looking at. Ideal player to fill the gap at 7 or 8 alongside Cracknell. Don’t imagine he’d break the bank either.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe

Still think with Wiesse, Reffell getting called every international window, another 8 to replace Jansen would be advisable. 6. Liebenberg, Hatherall, (Chessum, Martin, Manz) 7. Reffell, Cracknell, Illone 8. Wiese, new 8?, (Cracknell/Liebenberg) I think Hatherall has also played 8 quite a bit, so he...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe

Forgot Kata. Yes, decent pickup for the power midfield option. Perhaps no need to add further there. 12. Kelly, Cockanasiga, Woodward 13. Porter, Scott, Kata, Cusick I suppose with Martin playing more at lock, plus the emergence of Chessum/Carmichael/Carnduff on the horizon, it may be less of a pres...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe

Leatigaga - ? Taufete’e - FTT Snyman - ? Green - ? Jansen - Hatherall Wigglesworth- Whiteley Burns - Atkinson Gopperth - ? Nadolo - OHC Ashton - Bassett Saumaki - Murimurivalu - Brown Hegarty - Shilcock Definitely room for a couple of additions still, prop, lock, still think we’re a back row player ...

Browning not on the list either?
I assumed FVW would be on that list also, must’ve been a longer deal than first thought.

Re: Central contracts - second attempt

I think that the only fair way to deal with this, and I am not sure if there is a fair way, is that centrally contracted players should be offered first to the club that brought the player through their academy and so, in this case, London Irish. That would at least give a further incentive for pla...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

I’d forgot about Boyce going to Ealing. Be very surprised if they were planning to have both West and Boyce on the books next year. Two props that have been in and around the England setup in the last few years, Boyce 18/19, West 21/22, both playing championship rugby at the same club, that’s a hell...

Re: Tigers Coaching Team - 2023/2024 Season

I agree, I think it has been telling the tackle height is now a bit lower generally, and we are winning a lot of collisions, taking attackers back past the gain line. It’s a regular occurrence to see opposition getting knocked backwards. Overall, whilst we still kick pragmatically for territory, we ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

It's also no bad thing to have good relations with coaches like that, we may need to call in favours in the future. Having him sat next to our CEO and being schmoozed for the afternoon is no bad thing so makes sense to have him sat there. Wouldn’t hurt to have a current member of the pumas coaching...

Re: Tigers Coaching Team - 2023/2024 Season

It can’t be a coincidence. He isn’t just there watching Montoya, as he wouldn’t be likely to be sat with Pinchen and McKellar. Whenever Jones went to watch England players, he never sat with home club board members.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

I’m not a million miles away from the same view. Think it’ll be two props out (FVW and Leatigaga), but only be one prop coming in though, hopefully that’s West staying as a direct FVW replacement. Other than maybe an outside chance of a project TH, but realistically I think it’s more likely Richards...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

On the assumption West does stay on, need additional depth at TH, 7 or 8, Wing, and an additional utility back (centre/wing or wing/fullback). None need to be top tier players, but a prop capable of dropping into the squad of/when Cole and Heyes are with England, a back row player like Cracknell abl...
