I think it will be another disastrous season if the coaching team remains the same,I'm very worried!!! That piece looks worse each time I read it!
Agree, hoped Bakewell and Blake were on their way!

Whimsical holiday threads

I was quite enjoying the Bodies' thread as it had the potential to turn very whimsical or fantastical. I was just thinking that abbreviating it to 'Bods' made it quite early C20, very Wodehouse. I make an impassioned appeal, at a time when whimsy is needed more than ever (not Lord Peter the Homophon...

Re: Bodies

Speaking as one who might be described, inaccurately, as a 'liberal' (do people know what one is?), though certainly not 'elite', nor a 'snowflake' (having happily bopped the odd person or three in my time), I don't find 'bodies' massively offensive, but perhaps a little short on PR-speak sensibilit...

Re: GROUNDS

Best ground to visit the Rec in Bath, wonderful setting to watch rugby in a fantastic city, if they get planning permission to build their new stadium it will probably be one of the best places to watch rugby in the world. Worst ground to visit is Gloucesters ground, pillars in the stand restrictin...

Re: What is retirement like for players?

Brian Clough at Forest made the young lads take qualifications and also do some voluntary work - he told them that 90% of kids in their position never made it professionally, so they had to have a trade. Some clubs do give help and advice (viz Saracens :smt002 ) but of course back in the day Cockers...

Re: Dear Murphs

I attended a forum a few months ago, as did many others, in which the full coaching staff sat on the podium answering questions and giving their insights into the future of the club. At the time I came away impressed with what I'd heard that night. They all seemed to know what they were talking abo...

Re: Dear Murphs

The problem is there has been a problem for all to see since 2012-13 season, if you had eyes to see the experience disappearing and also noticed MOC's disuse of the Development players. For me, the writing was on the wall when our coaching team went down to 4, and from then on simply got compounded ...

Re: Wayne Barnes

I have a lot more respect for Wayne than most, having listened to him and others on RefLink and radio. He passes on the TMO most of the time, says 'No, I'm happy with it' etc., and doesn't often make bloopers compared to some other refs.

Re: Tigers vs Bath

Probably my last match at WR for a while, so a bit disappointed, but I also think some scoffers on here have scoffed enough and it would be nice to think they might rein it in. Some hope. :smt009

Smurf says he's going to play the leavers and the youngsters! Feel unhappy with not turning out the strongest possible side?

Re: London Irish: an immorality tale?

Out of order? You may think so in your sheltered suburban set but you are certainly not of the contemporary world. The kind of high jinks I am referring to, definitely still goes on and much closer to home than you think. The fact that the lads don't broadcast it may be fooling you but I can assure...

Re: France - end of season round up.

Thx Robespierre. I always enjoy your updates. And experience envy at you living there! I’ll have to make do with some Provence rosé and some half decent weather in Staffs today. Only 15 more years of work....... Thanks Gg. There doesn't appear to be many of you who take an interest with French rugb...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19

Once again I am in agreement with BFG, for me team spirit starts with young single guys going out on the town with their team mates, of course at a suitable time before a match or training, and with a blind eye being turned when necessary with discipline maintained. Imported outsiders brought in on...
