Re: The real reason* Tigers didn't qualify for ECC quarter final

I'm with BFG on this one, Farrell is not a bizarre option at all. Sure, you can make arguments for other players - after all, it is only opinion - but for me Farrell is right up there. The 2015 WC was more than 2 years ago, so it wouldn't really be a good guide as to who is the best player right now.

Re: Tigers vs Cardiff Blues - AWC Cup

Based on performances this season, Owen would be my first choice 13 when fit. I'd like to see more of Holmes in the Premiership, he looks like a very promising talent. Should be happy with tomorrows selection then 15 George Worth 14 Tom Brady 13 Gareth Owen 12 Charlie Thacker 11 Jonah Holmes 10 Joe...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2017/18 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3!

Thompson offers ball carrying ability that we don't currently seem to have. Agree with above, I think he would be best used at 8 in the Tigers pack. Can't see why he would play at 7 for us, not if we want a balanced back row. Him at 8 with Kalamafoni at 6 and O'Connor at 7 is potentially a competiti...

Re: Tigers vs Cardiff Blues - AWC Cup

Always been impressed with Owen whenever I’ve seen him play. Pity he’s been injured so much this season. Hopefully over the AWC he can get match fit for Gloucester. Hoping Jonah Holmes smashes it. Such a natural finisher who reads the game a bit like Ashton. Always seems to be on the shoulder of th...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2017/18 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2!!

4. Spencer, Wells 5. Barrow, Kitchener This would be a good group of locks for next season, maybe missing an international class player in there but if they were well coached could form a formidable unit. Exeter seem to do well with no star players in their engine room. Not sure I'm quite as positi...

Agreed deals with development players: Ben White Harry Simmons Harry Mahoney Jordon Olowofela George Worth Charlie Thacker Fred Tuilagi jr Sam Lewis Happy with most of those. With Betts off Guessing Hills and Maksymiw might be off then. Good stuff, now let's see them play in meaningful matches, esp...

Re: Mallinder the very worst tackler

You already know from previous commenting that I rate his attacking play Roly, but why would that stop the snide just for the sake of it! :smt009 Btw, I'd be happy to hear what is seen in Francis, Hartley I get even if has eaten too many pies, but Francis! :smt017 I agree some of EJ's selections ar...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non Tigers 2016/17

Why not centre? I believe OTY was a pretty good centre before becoming a hooker. Why not the other direction for Thacker? Well exactly, outside centre is probably the best position for a jack of all trades. You don't need to be the biggest or quickest on the pitch - although both certainly help. Yo...

Re: Croft retires

So much anger against always giving ex-players coaching jobs at Tigers - and now we're advocating Croft and Vesty as a new coaching team... The board really do need to look outside the Tigers bubble in future - there is no longer a winning mentality that can be perpetuated by continuity. We need fre...

Re: MOC to be sacked?

During a warm up the team are a) warming up and b) rehearsing preset drills. They shouldn’t need ‘coaching’ at that stage and if they do that would be a total failure of the coaching staff. There may be an issue about how to motivate this particular team in the pre-match phase, but it’s very unlike...

Re: Mallinder the very worst tackler

I'm sure many will reserve judgement, but selection is just starting to make a bit of a mockery of things in some areas, when other players are told that they have important things to work on to improve and a player who can't tackle properly is selected! But, one thing is for sure, either EJ is inc...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non Tigers 2016/17

Not sure how you can criticise a professional for changing employer for better money and more chance of progression. Unless of course, you have a big chip on your shoulder against anyone named Thacker - which one fellow poster clearly does. As for positional change, unfortunately for him he has a bo...

Re: Tigers vs Racing

Premiership is priority and we need to keep the first team fit and fresh for that, however they do need games too otherwise they may be rusty. Playing a second team against the Castres second team wasn't a crazy thing to do at all - yes we had a mathematical chance of qualification, but we all know ...

Re: MOC to be sacked?

Team building. Easier to die for somebody you like than for someone you would rather kill. I sort of get what you're saying, but there is a difference between the camaraderie required to give one's life for a friend and the professionalism required to perform as a rugby team. At the weekend, the Ra...
