Re: A new defence coach?

To be fair to Mike Ford, he's had 6(?) matches as defence coach, half of which have been with our youth/2nd/3rd team on the pitch. The defence against Exeter and Irish was pretty good, still with a lot of 1st teamers missing. I can't see any logic in putting out a bunch of kids against a top 4 side ...

What I think tells heavily is the number of ex-Tigers players we face in opposition each week and how well most seem to be doing. It's a long list, too.
Really? Umaga today... who else? Brookes was average at best.

I can't wait to hear some of 'the learnings and positives' taken from this game.
Genge shaking his head when he got to the bench speaks volumes. :smt009
Genge had a poor match, if he's shaking his head at anything it needs to be his own performance.

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

Barbeary was lucky that his dominant pack caused him to create a try with a one handed off load while being tackled by two opponents. :smt005

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

Awful second half so far. The more experienced players have added less than the players they replaced. Also, next time we're talking about how our youngsters are "only 22" or whatever and still have loads of time to develop - watch this game back, watch Barbeary, then you'll understand what a top p...

Ben Youngs has let the team down today. He should have cone on to sure things up, he's only made things worse.

Re: Cards and punishment

First thing I learned playing rugby as a kid was don't retaliate or the penalty would be reversed. As Dingdong says, if you're lenient on the retaliator it becomes a free for all and, as Traveller points out, it's unlikely Piutau genuinely feared for his own safety given the context. Pat Lam is just...

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

Tigers far more competitive in the first half than I expected. Better set piece and we would be level or ahead. Some poor discipline hasn't helped either. It does seem that refereeing at the scrum and breakdown is a bit random today- not biased against tigers, just impossible to predict when the ref...

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

The thing with banana skins is that, outside of cartoons, almost no one ever slips on them. It's nice to be optimistic but all I'm hoping for is a respectable scoreline, some good individual performances and a little more cohesion. Judging by our performances so far, it's hard to see how Wasps are n...

"The players weren’t in agreement with the pay cut but that wasn’t a sackable offence" Umm, so what was the club supposed to do then? Well, legally, the club was supposed to honour their side of the contracts and pay the players their full salaries. If there wasn’t the money to pay them, what else ...

Re: Reversing the great schism. Is it an option now?

Ban lifting? That's far too sensible. Instead we have a load of laws designed to protect players when they are lifted. That's much more complicated and therefore must be better!
