Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3

I guess Cockerill had a bit of break with his trip to France, I know he was re-signed as a player but seemed to move to the forwards coach quickly. With regard to Murphy, if the powers that be in Tigers thought he had the potential to be head coach they should have sent him on a sabbatical to the s...

Re: December 2018 - a critical month for those at the helm of Leicester FC

A couple of no-bonus-point defeats against Bath and Quins (perfectly plausible) might even see Tigers bottom of the table by the end of the year, which is utterly ridiculous when you look at the names in our squad.

I think it goes without saying that we'll be out of Europe by then.

Re: A summary of Tigers recruitment in the last 5 years.

High turnover of staff is a huge problem in any organisation, probably even more so than usual in a sports team. As others have said, it comes from the top - high turnover of senior people leads to high turnover of everyone else. After that, is it poor recruitment of players or poor management & coa...

Re: Sour grapes from Burgess?

English rugby seems to obsessed with looking at what everyone else has and assuming it's better. Sam Burgess was an example of seeing SBW and thinking they could replicate it, despite SB having different attributes. Burgess could have become a top flanker, but there's a reason that League converts d...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3

I haven't seen enough from Hardwick to suggest he's going to be particularly good - but he is as good as Joe Ford so why not play him as back up Fly Half this season and reward him with a new contract in May if he's performed well? If he's demanding a big pay rise right now, then I can't see a justi...

Re: Christian Wade

Wade has put a decade of hard work into making a success of his Rugby Union career, and has been pretty damn successful. However, it's hard to argue that he will be given any opportunity to do more (i.e. international honours) so why not say "yes" to a once in a lifetime opportunity? Some of the com...

Re: Eastmond

I really don't think Eastmond is the long term replacement for Toomua, he's just a (very talented) extra pair of hands in the centres, which I think everyone would agree is needed. So he didn't succeed hugely at Wasps? Well if he had, he probably wouldn't fit into our salary cap! Toomua leaving in a...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part Deux

The idea that Owen Williams would be the best replacement for Toomua if and when he leaves is utterly hilarious.

Disappointed that Toomua looks certain to leave sooner than we expected, but the chance to play in a World Cup is always going to take priority, so I don't blame him for changing his mind.

Depends who will be operating the hotel, the details of that agreement and whether Leicester is a destination in need of 150 extra hotel bedrooms.

Re: Tour to SA

I'm glad Manu won't be going. If I were England coach I wouldn't pick him anyway - he needs to prove he can stay fit before he's worth investing time in at international level. BOC really does deserve an opportunity. It's not only his ability at the breakdown, he does well with ball in hand, good su...

Re: MOC to be sacked?

The thing with defamation is that to be awarded damages you have to actually prove that you have been damaged . With all respect to my fellow forum posters, I suspect you would have a hard time proving in court that any of our posts have damaged MOC or anyone else. There are many other messageboards...

Re: Holmes

I agree that moving Veainu to wing is not a great idea defensively. I would rather have that weakness at full back.

Ok so he prefers to play on the wing, but the needs of the team should come first. Doesn't mean he's going to leave because of it either.

Re: Holmes

Thompstone and Malouf are hardly bad players. It's easy to look back at the season now and say that Holmes has been the most impressive of the three. Wasps got rid of him when he was 22, and he then spent 3 years in the Championship before Tigers signed him, so MOC is really not the first coach who ...

Whoever he picks in his team, someone is going to tell him he's completely wrong. It's all a matter of opinion.
