Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

If their England stars did opt out Sarries would lose the international player credits, placing them back over the cap by a few hundred thousand more. The players themselves would lose £25k a start as well. That's £125k over the 6 Nations. Mike Tindall has stated he was on circa £200k a year whilst...

Re: Borthwick

They'll almost certainly get a trophy before he leaves though! Just not one that means anything, and they'll likely pay for it with a few hundred million and any chance they have of winning anything else for the foreseeable future, just like United. Isn't the sacking of Poch a little like Cockerill...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2

No they are saying 2-3 year contract and he would return to Tigers Which would be stupid considering now is his prime. Not sure we'd be mad keen to bring back a 30 year old Manu after he's subjected himself to multiple seasons of running into brick walls in league. If he wants to shorten his career...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

This from BBC Sport: How the hell can it be possible, with the squad they have, given they are no longer able to use the shared companies scam? Have their stars taken a massive cut in salary? I have no insider knowledge, but using the facts available, the level of fine is £3 per £1 "in breach" as i...

Re: Is Boladau worth keeping long-term?

Most of our youngsters are nowhere near good enough. In fact the only one in the last few years was Thacker, and we sold him. Compared to Sarries Juniors , ours are two grades below. And thats fact, not fiction. Sorry our Academy is light years behind other Clubs. You know Boladau is a 33 year old ...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

Surely if it's investment in players' companies that has taken Sarries over the cap, then all Wray needs to do is stop or reduce his investments? This may mean some players re-assess things next time their contract is up because Sarries won't be as financially attractive as other offers, but I can't...

Re: Tigers v Pau Saturday Nov 16th

There is also a consideration of whether all of the players will be England players moving forwards? Will Coley be in the mix, for example? Also, will YBY be the starting 9 from here onwards? Not saying he shouldn't be btw - just putting it out there for discussion Jones was quite happy to pick a l...

Re: Costelow (and other Tigers on loan)

Great to hear that the youngsters are doing so well in a tough division, especially at that age. To be honest, Worth, Simmons and Hardwick are not likely to be more than decent Premiership players (please, prove me wrong!) so it's exciting that the next round of youngsters are perhaps showing a bit ...

Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20

Cobus Wiese has been linked with Sarries on a 5-year contract from 2020/21. Rumoured to be joining after playing the 2020 Super Rugby season with the Stormers. Rhodes and Isiekwe are both out of contract at the end of the season so presumably he's a replacement for one of them. Wiese is a highly ra...

Re: Borthwick

It's likely that GM was always lined up for a DoR role, there's no other reason to have kept him on this long. Perhaps part of that vision he sold to players has always been to bring in a head coach. Being higher up and less hands on requires different skills, maybe the board have always seen it as ...

Re: Borthwick

Ok, Murphy has been a good servant to the club but does he merit being appointed Director of Rugby? The answer is clearly no! Well the board incompetently decided that he meritted appointment to Head Coach after his spectacular success as skills coach. It therefore comes as no surprise that as he h...

Re: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Just like there is some that will place the blame at Cohen (Like me) there are those that refuse to see fault in him whatsoever (Like jgriffen) It balances itself out most of the time. But I think everyone agrees the problem first and foremost is at the top. That being said we first missed out on t...

Re: Heyneke Meyer

Meyer is a limited coach in my opinion, his teams remind me a lot of our current team where its very stale territory based play that sends you to sleep and relies on top draw kickers to even be remotely successful The style of play you describe would be a wonderful upgrade for Tigers at the moment!...

Re: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Yes fair enough he is clearly one of those responsible. In fact, looking at his background I would imagine that he's probably more in control of the sporting side than the business. All the names on that Rugby Board should be facing some kind of review of their suitability, because they are clearly ...

Re: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Business performance was actually profit of £4m. The £1.9m is actually operating profit which is before things like the Pemership windfall last season, but does include things like depreciation. Why would you want a CEO to have control of a £20m turnover business and the appointment of coaches and p...
