The trouble is that you also get the Goldsmiths crowd taking the MetRX route to Aylestone Road as an alternative to the chaos on the Crumbie side, which only makes matters worse. I believe the stationary road closures are around Abbey Park and the Space Centre, so those coming in from the north side of town, particularly by bus, may be diverted.

Going back to the original question, if I rightly recall there is next to no public transport on Boxing Day so that those that drive said transport can have an alcoholic drink with their Christmas lunch without it affecting their ability to work. Bad idea. Apart from anything else, the sales of the calendar at Ladies Night would be enough to justify it's continuation. And I have so enjoyed Mr Thompstone's company this month :smt003
