Re: England V Italy - LIVE DISCUSSION HERE

Not brilliant but if you offered me a win by a 25 pt margin I, and almost every Englishman, would have taken it without question.

Having said that I'm just watching the French Ireland game and the French just scored a lovely try with offloading, quick ball and using the width of the pitch. :smt038

England Sevens

Just noticed England won the Wellington sevens beating NZ in the final. Does this mean we have some good English running backs somewhere???? Draft them in quick! :smt045

Re: Italian Problems

No doubt Harry will be nailed a few times but against a bigger man, who probably hasn't got Harry's acceleration over the first 5 yards, he should get some joy. It will also be interesting to see how good Bergamasco is at getting the ball away - if he is a split second off the pace Harry should be a...

Re: No Noon No!!!!

I get the plan but if you work on that basis you need some backs to work the wonders when the quick ball comes. If I was manager, and it was my neck on the line, then to be honest this is probably the sort of team I would pick. It would be nice however to see a young backline given a go as Italy wou...

Re: Italian Problems

Harry must be licking his lips - should have some good space around the base of scrums and rucks to try and exploit.

Re: No Noon No!!!!

But what is their game plan? From looking at the team it will be keep it in the forwards and bash it up the middle from the backs (creativity avoided at all costs!). To be fair this will probably work against Italy but against the better teams in the 6N's you can't expect to run over them - we need ...

Re: No Noon No!!!!

I saw the highlights of the Sale game the other weekend. Obviously you don't get a full appreciation of how the player performs over 80 mins but it did show him dancing through the opposition defence with some lovely foot work before off loading for an easy try. As mentioned this was only one flash ...

Re: England and the 6 Nations

I don't think England are especially weak at present. Man for man, and comparing against the other nations, England look good. Problem is putting it together as a team. Wales have not had a brilliant 3 or 4 years but win one 5 nations (which England did gift them slightly by self destructing in the ...

Re: England and the 6 Nations

On the 10 debate I would stick with Cips over Goode. Goode is never going to be a long term solution but Cips could be a world beater. I do feel sorry for Cips as I had a bad injury and when you come back you are more hesitant for a while (every tackle you are waiting for that popping noise again) a...

Re: England and the 6 Nations

Fatonerocks, problem in putting White out first is that you want your first prop to go at least 60 mins before substituting in case you run into injuries. Whilst White is great in the scrum I think Vickery is more mobile and better able to keep up with the pace of international rugby for a longer pe...

Re: England and the 6 Nations

I think England do have some great players - problem is we are not translating that into a great team. Man for man we could easily win the Grand Slam but England, as have Tigers of late, seem to of lost all confidence in themselves. I now watch both England and Tigers hoping we will win but not expe...
