Re: London Irish v Tigers

Positives - Toomua, world class play maker, when he went off it all went to pot. May - What a player, makes so many yards and is a deadly finisher: Evans - looked lively around the break down and should have had far more pens for his troubles Mappa - looks the business, a great project player, coul...

Re: Marcus Smith

Excellent point regarding Sam Simmonds. With Billy V likely crocked, I'm not convinced by Hughes at test match level, would be nice to look at Simmonds o seems to have it all. Head to head for them this afternoon Yes I just would not have thought that 10 was such a problem position to require so ma...

Re: Marcus Smith

Indeed, where is Will? Hopefully his time will come. As for Marcus Smith, EJ's already given him the (press) rocket that Ford was better at the same age. :smt001 Yes Ford was/is better, in fact I didn't think Smith was even close, and it's alright playing flat but you need better footwork than that...

Re: Tigers v Bath

I don't think our backline is as weak in terms as depth as many are saying - maybe we're all just scared after being without our two first choice centres (and probably most expensive backs) for 95% of the season? Exeter in the back 3 have only Turner, Nowell, Woodburn and Short as senior players wi...

Re: Projected 2021 Lions Team (Where is Genge??)

Given that two of the looseheads picked are current Lions it would not be outrageous to see them picked again. The summary text under the third loosehead starts "The snarl of Ellis Genge might be tempting in South Africa, and the Leicester Tiger is improving all the time." So he's at least name-chec...

Re: England Under 20's

The players missing made little difference, they would've suffered a similar fate. However impressive NZ were, that is total speculation. And it's hard to imagine that losing 8-10 starters had no significant impact. No team - particularly at age grade - can easily cope with losing so many first cho...

Meanwhile we may as well consider moving Mulipola back to the back row! :smt003 Yes! Mulipola @8! Genius! :smt026 :smt026 :smt026 Well, he was an 8 when we signed him. :smt001 In which case it was very innovative of Samoa to cap him at prop several times before we signed him and converted him to th...

Re: England vs Italy

I just worry that next season we will playing with 14 as someone will have to protect Ford who can't tackle and will be a liability. Just hope I am wrong! But against the Welsh he tackled really well. Mike Brown got done like a kipper too Quite. He's defending well for England for some time. It wou...

Re: Team's up v Quins:

Quins at home is like we used to be: very proud team, rarely beaten and though they have two front rowers out, ( we have Logo, Cole, Ayerza) their pack has dominated ours at their place in the last few seasons with a similar pack for tomorrow. This is the game when we will see if Tigers have moved o...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non Tigers 2016/17

Marcus Watson (wing / fullback) - Anthony's brother - joins Wasps from Falcons next season. What is the salary cap :smt017 I'm not sure a second-string Falcon with limited proven XVs performances would be a bank-breaker for anyone. It would be like Wasps fans huffing about the salary cap when we si...

Re: Will Eddie Jones stick or twist?

I'd say that if George does start then it will be only for one game, regardless of performance. Jones will want to back his captain and Dylan will be back in the front row for Scotland and Ireland games.

Re: Will Eddie Jones stick or twist?

I think I read an interview with Jones in which he was unequivocal about making a number of changes for Italy. It won't be half the team, but I would expect to see Mako on the bench, George and Haskell starting and changes to the back three. May even see 11/13/14/15 of Nowell, Daly, May and Watson. ...

Re: Jack Roberts leaving us

Shame but understandable when our centres are fit he may not get much game time. Depends if Toomua is seen as back up FH to Ford, because if he is then that's a significant chunk of the season with Ford away on international duty. And I also suspect a fit Manu would also be called away. Leaving ple...

Re: Times report Ford on his way to Tigers

Irrespective of my own opinion of GF and concern if he comes at the expense of FB; when GF originally left Tigers, it was at least partially because the dog would not be wagged by the tail - has the tail realised its place or has the dog rolled over? Really? Ford knew he'd be second choice, new Bat...

Re: England U20s

Tigers don't need to produce players. We'll just let Worcester do it, and then sign their players once they have had a few years of experience.

The players that Wasps, Bath and Sarries don't want, that is.
