Re: Bowden and Thompstone on route!!

Tigers have been buying in "outside" talent for ages now...and throughout our most successful seasons of the professional era too! While Manu may be "local" (in that he came though our academy, he only did so because Tigers signed his big brother from St Helens RL. Fans' favourite Martin Castrogiova...

I think it was intended more as a pun on the Crusaders vs the Saracens in the Middle East...

Re: The Laidlaw 'try'

Correct bluntiger, the TMO can only rule on what happens beyond the try line. For example, if a player steps in to touch on his way to scoring the TMO cannot disallow the try. However he could disallow the try if the player was in touch when the ball was grounded . Deciding on obstruction before the...

Re: Does the Salaty Cap really excist?

DickyP, I too was an external auditor for a number of years & am accutely aware of what they do and don't look for. The PRL /Salary cap audit is significantly different to a year end audit though & I expect that the materiality is A LOT lower. At least one of the Big 4 firms has a team dedicated to ...

Re: Does the Salaty Cap really excist?

It's all so silly really. If the Premiership was really worried about the cap it would invest time and money in investigating the club's accounts. They'd only have to do it once and fine a couple of clubs where it really hurts - league points - to nip it in the bud. PRL already do investigate each ...

Re: If you can't wait for the EPS, here it is

Nothing bizarre about TTTE's situation at all. He was always in the Saxons squad, even when called up as cover for the RWC. (Johnno was allowed to call anyone up from Saxons into the main EPS squad as injury cover. The same situation currently applies to Parling's call up from Saxons for the 6N. Per...

Re: premership set to make way for world cup

I had a feeling that current RWC requirements are that domestic rugby has to stop during the RWC and that it is only allowed to go ahead if special dispensation is sought from RWCL & IRB. Therefore I think this is an attempt by PRL to try to gain good publicity from something they have little contro...

Re: Ground redevelopment

There is no set timeframe for the completion of the ground, and any timeframe is certainly not dictated by the 2015 RWC. The World Cup tender was done based on the capacity and facilities of the stadium at the time of the tender & no promises or assurances were made in relation to further developmen...

Re: Rugby League

Tigers have previously had a League to Union convert in Gareth Raynor. He failed to make the grade & was a complete disaster who returned to League as soon as he could. Freddie Tuilagi came to us from League and was a success story but he was a Union player (and Samoa RU International) prior to join...

How many times did Noon & Payne play for England?

Noon: 38
Payne: 22

I belive Noon deserved the number of caps he got. Payne less so, but decent English props were short on the ground when he made many of his England appearances.

Doh!

Fair point. Forgot that Manu hobbled off as I only read the match report & missed the game.

Re: Londoncentric press team for the 6 nations.

I think we will lose the following during the 6 nations:- Cole Croft Waldrom Youngs Flood MT - Either out injured or with England Ford - U20s 6 nations Castro - Italy Why do you think Tait would be selected by England? He hasn't played for England for 18 months & has hardly featured for Tigers sinc...

Re: As predicted - Friday night in Belfast

In the 'real' world of "be at work or your job goes to someone else", a bare 4 weeks notice of the request for a day off is very much last minute! What I'm saying is we have known for five months which weekend this match is scheduled to be played. If a person is so determined to go to Belfast, what...

Re: As predicted - Friday night in Belfast

.... they cannot all kick off at 3pm on the Saturday. Of course they can - very easily. They won't, of course. But given the choice, Ulster wouldn't kick off at 3pm on a Saturday as it isn't their preferred time or date! Ulster LIKE to have games on Friday evenings, just as some other clubs do (eg ...

Re: As predicted - Friday night in Belfast

Teachers may not be able to take Fridays off but then shift workers may not be able to take Saturdays off so, for everyone who can't do Fridays there is probably someone who can't do a Saturday or Sunday. As BJ says, the games have always been spread over the Fri/Sat/Sun for TV (and logistical) reas...
