Re: Howard to mentor Murphy

Simples, appoint a proven world class DOR not a totally inexperienced Ex Tiger (now mentored by an Ex Tiger) whose only qualification for the job remains just that. What and replace them again if their first season isn't good enough? Two names for you Boyd at Saints and Ackermann at Glos compare th...

Re: Ringfencing finally here?

Half empty stadiums? Why?! There's still playoffs and European qualification to play for,I see a lot of posters across sites and social media pointing out last season "exciting" relegation run-in as a reason why it shouldn't happen. Yeah becsuse it's like that very season isnt it? Smh! I think you ...

Re: Ringfencing finally here?

I don't agree with it and it makes a mockery of the entire season. There is a danger of half empty stadiums for most of the season for better supported clubs. The less supported clubs don't care as they are more interested in T.V money but that might also suffer in my opinion as there is less value ...

Re: Elitism in Rugby

Most people aren't criticising private schools for running sports, they're criticising state schools for not doing it. When this happens it presents fewer opportunities for kids from poorer backgrounds. Sport should be part of your upbringing, and school sport should be a significant part of that. ...

Re: Howard to mentor Murphy

Why does Murphy need someone to mentor him, you are either good enough or not. Hiring Howard to mentor Murphy is an admission by the board that Murphy is not up to the job, and in my opinion he never will be. More poor decisions by a board of directors who have let the supporters down over the last...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Hopefully overall. The main upturn in Bath during his time there was the attacking patterns. Working the forwards round the corner and offering multiple carrying options for the halfbacks made them very difficult to defend against and forced the opposition to defend quite narrow allowing the backs ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Chris Jones saying Mike Ford will be covering Attack. (Not sure whether that's overall or backs...) Hopefully overall. The main upturn in Bath during his time there was the attacking patterns. Working the forwards round the corner and offering multiple carrying options for the halfbacks made them v...

Re: Elitism in Rugby

No science needed, the evidence is in English sporting history. Do England actually possess the ability to create world class athletes in particular in rugby union, given that since 03 it has been slowly going downhill I'd strongly question that ability! What's really interesting is that the 03 rug...

Re: Elitism in Rugby

The main point I think is that beyond any selection corruption, that does also exist in my experience, the routes through to professional rugby are academically selective. For a young kid like Genge who may not possess that academic background opportunities are extremely limited if not noticed befor...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Sorry to disgree but I see Quins winning the league under Gustard, not next season but definitely the season after. I don't know if Quins will challenge by then but I think you are right to suggest that Quins will go in the right direction under Gustard. If he is given time to build I can see them ...

Re: Elitism in Rugby

So LE18, are you saying that Genge is wrong? In my experience he is correct, but you do raise an important secondary point by your comment, and that is that private schooled children are over developed compared to the majority, and then plateau quickly in development to seniors, they have less stre...

Re: Elitism in Rugby

Off the back of Ellis Genge's interview in the Mail England test prop Ellis Genge has hit out at English rugby’s “private school mould,” stating that it is stopping the sport from progressing. “It’s something I want to speak about because my whole career I’ve felt like I can’t express my opinion,” ...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million

Personally I think this fantastic news.... with the proviso I'm not sure if I trust the board to choose the right buyers!! But really, it's what we need. People have been saying on here for a while that things are not right off the pitch resulting in a lack of accountability. Also that in terms of ...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million

Looks to me like the threat of relegation has scared someone. Also well timed given that I expect that most ticket renewals are done. It might be a very good thing and it might not be, into the unknown. For every Saracens there is a London Welsh. I do feel for the small shareholders though who's per...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Personally I think a few posters are overrating quite a few players and with it expectations to suit their drum banging. The likes of Kerr and Heyes are clearly down the order in terms of ability and have only showed limited potential so far. Heyes did alright with the U20's but it's a massive drop...
