Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread

There are a few on Shedweb thinking that Carl Fearns is headed their way. They claim that, according to Fissler in TRP, Gloucester are prepared to pay £310k pa - 50k more than us, Quins and Falcons. (No mention of Sarries apparently). £300k+? I guess it depends on how each Club values him which is ...

Re: Bring on Sarries! - Teams Up

First time poster and tigers season ticket holder! I think first of all we have to give credit to a sarries team that are at the moment quite exceptional and can see them dominating for a good few years to come. Something I've noticed over the past few years is that we lack intensity for 80 minutes...

Re: Bring on Sarries! - Teams Up

McCall, pre-match said that when they started the Saracens project 7 years ago it was Tigers they most admired. Two things from that: SEVEN years and WAS. We now have a different team every week. McCall seemed genuinely shocked/disappointed by Ashton's decision to leave, "We expect players to finis...

Re: Bring on Sarries! - Teams Up

Credit must go the Sarries coaching staff in my opinion, Hamilton did a job for them and was better than I expected, they seem to get out of him what they want.
Leicester's lineout was excellent against Racing but struggled today.

Re: Bring on Sarries! - Teams Up

Whitecap Tiger How many times has Jim Hamilton been a penalty machine for ANY team he has played for? Saracens' intensity dropped? What happened to the 'production line' then? The much vaunted 'any player can step in and the intensity doesn't drop'? The Wolf Pack? The 'Clone Troopers'? ANY opportun...

Re: Whats the purpose of our Academy

I have met the academy coach of another club. He made some points that stick in my mind. Clubs and academy coaches have to be philosophical and celebrate success wherever the players end up playing. Because even if you have a great prospect it doesn't mean the right opportunity will appear at the r...

Re: Whats the purpose of our Academy

Sorry BFG beg to differ as he grows and fills out he will become a top class hooker and a regular in the England Squad, Where were you last season when filling in for Tom Youngs due to injury he put in some stellar performances for such a young player. I know for a fact that there have been enquiri...

Re: Whats the purpose of our Academy

Agreed, since the game has become professional and players are earning their living from the game, there will without doubt be increased movement between clubs as they have to be self promoting to earn. There will be many reasons why movement takes place, cash, opportunity, personality issues etc. ...

Re: Whats the purpose of our Academy

Edited. Everyone knows what the culture is and it's pointless debating with folk who believe hardly any players will naturally make it. Obviously some believe we had a golden generation by luck. Personally I think many good people put a lot of hard work and seriously good expertise into it. It is wh...

Re: Bring on Sarries!

Are the England players available? The fit ones are yes. I think the teams will be even on this one and on injuries. It's purely down to who is the best on the day. This is definitely the best time to ever play Saracens. Mmmmmm... I think without Itoje and Kruis we may be able to get something goin...

Re: Bring on Sarries!

Every team has a weakness. What is Saracens weakness and how can we exploit it? Are the England players available? Given that Saracens could be missing Farrell and Lozowski at 10 and Barritt at 12 I'd think that midfield could be an opportunity to take advantage of a potential lack of usual organis...

Re: Matt Toomua - anyone heard any news yet?

Very sad for Toomua, not been a great year for him for injuries.
I would've thought it's an opportunity for Jack Roberts or at 10/12 of Burns/Williams.
A replacement comes down to money and if any is available.
