Re: Tigers need a new surface - good news!!

I can't remember the exact figures, but the change was much more significant than that - measured in metres!

Re: Redevelopment of new club house end stand

If the rake of the seats stays the same from one end of the stand to the other, but the footprint changes (due to getting closer to the road) the result will be a gradual reduction in the possible number of rows. Hence the asymmetrical design.

Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 3

I watched Fitzgerald again this morning. He came off the bench to replace Rettalick and was mighty impressive. You are doing him a grave disservice if you see him as a 'workhorse' or merely good in the tight. From what I've seen, he has all of Deacon's grunt, but gets around the park to hit ruck aft...

Re: Peter Betham

Sorry - I can't agree about O'Connor. Most of the time, he just seems to watch the game happening around him. One good turnover at the death, but too little too late. A traditional 7 he is not!

Surely, the Pennell signing depends upon the outcome of the promotion race in the Championship?

Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 3

From what I've seen, Mike Fitzgerald (Chiefs) is a lock of real quality, in the mould of Luis Deacon/Brad Thorn, but younger, fitter and faster. I think he'll make a big impression.

Re: 2014/15 Rumours/Contracts/Signings part 3

I've been watching O'Connor in the Super 15 and would say he's more of a blindside - rather like Gibson. Even through O'Connor wore 7 last week, Braid was arguably doing the breakaway job. I've been more impressed with Fitzgerald - an enforcer type lock in the mould of Thorn/Deacon and good in the l...

Re: Tyrese Johnson Fisher

Don't forget that the DPP system has also changed (in Leicestershire and nationally) within the last couple of years, replacing the old 'School of Rugby'. Tigers now run the show from U14 upwards (the trials are happening now for U13s) and there are bases at Leicester Grammar, Hinckley, Mount St Mar...

Re: England-Penalties

Cole smashed Healey, but didn't lead with an elbow or forearm. I apologise if it sounds harsh, but if Healey chooses to 'tackle' in that manner, he has to accept what's coming to him.

Cockers was talking about being able to rest players earlier in the week and, now that Parling and Thorn are back, I imagine that this comes into that category.

Listening to Cockers tonight, I'd say the major doubt for Saturday is Salvi, whose calf is playing him up.

Re: Steve Hackney

Thank you - brought back some great memories. Oh for a winger with real pace and a step - a finisher, but also someone who can create a try out of nothing with a moment of magic. Sadly, not the fashion anymore.
