Re: As we suspected, you can smell it from here....

The regulation regarding the salary cap is a voluntary regulation, ie the clubs have opted to play under it, it is the same as having 15 players on the park, clubs who play under the Union regulation have opted into that rule, for any club to suddenly decide that they are rich enough to afford to ha...

Re: As we suspected, you can smell it from here....

Everyone keeps saying the cap is impossible to police, but the inquiry obviously turned up enough evidence that it had to be kicked into the long grass to avoid the bad publicity. In a normal sport the committee that took this decision could not avoid a charge of bringing the game into disrepute. De...

Re: Steve Walsh Retires!

Steve Walsh improved markedly in the last few games I saw him referee, all referees are flawed as far as the fans are concerned and his earlier performances were dire but he had improved a lot so it will be a loss to the game.

Re: Reffing this weekend - reflections

The early not straight throws were contested but after J P decided it was OK Tigers then started not to compete, a very clever response in my opinion.
But the lineout is supposed to be a contest JP Doyle decided he did not want a fair contest, which I think is totally wrong for such blatant cheating,

Re: Good Goode !

Top player top bloke, under-rated by many but he has never let any team down, and an example to the ripped, gym bunny, types that a bit of beef protects the player, reduces injury and extends your career.
Good luck at Irish.

Re: Reffing this weekend - reflections

Why do refs choose to ignore obvious infringements, I know JP Doyle is credited with trying to make the game flow but infringements are that for a reason, throw in's not straight are a blight as are crooked scrum feeds, JP chose to ignore both. It is not the refs job to keep the game flowing that is...

Re: Cardiff - the match! (v Tigers - LV Cup)

To Dicky P In defense of Neil Back, no matter what has happened since he left us he was the outstanding No7 in his time, he did so much link play and some of his tackles when seen in slow mo were near on impossible,so please don't let his attitude since diminish his playing legacy. A lot of us have ...

Re: Times Up!

Any and every defeat brings out the same sad bunch calling for the head of RC, If he had the budget of Toulon with 2 or 3 top class players in every position to pick from we would be odds on favorites to win the thing. Grow up and get real, no one I can think of could have managed the injury crisis ...

Re: Scrum reform-your reactions?

Push up and down the pitch, put in straight as soon as the ref says so, props wear baggy, cotton shirts, or better shirts with special binding panels sewn in. We just need the refs to make use of the refs assistants, and to yellow card props who turn in or bind on the arm, and back rows who march si...

I blame Cocker's for not offering a guaranteed starters spot and more money to Rizzo.

Oh sorry wrong thread.

Seriously, many thanks to Rizzo for all the time and effort you have given to the forum.

Re: Rugby glory being bought by the Rich- Help save the game

One facet of the current situation has not been mentioned, the inaction and disinterest of the IRB. The fact that rampant stocking of French and English league teams with high paid and high profile overseas players that has no benefit to the national teams of France and England, and may in fact be a...

Re: Why have players left Tigers?

Lewis Moody was on more money than his contribution to the club at the time warranted, was he prepared to take a shorter lower paid contract to carry on playing for the club he loved?, or did he want to earn as much as was possible. The same with Dan Hipkiss, Tigers is a business for good or bad any...

Re: Why have players left Tigers?

A certain hooker left us to go to Clemont Auvern as he was not getting picked ahead of a guy who coaches at Northampton now!! Players leave for all sorts of reasons, get over it, like everyone if you leave your job / die, the company / team carries on, no one individual is bigger than the company / ...

Re: A bit of perspective

As far as a bit of perspective goes we should be noting the costs incurred by two of the teams who seem to be on the up at the moment, without outside money they would still be mediocrities as far as the English rugby is concerned Tigers are trying to remain competitive, whilst developing the ground...
