Re: Provisional Premiership Return Date ?

Yeah I think a lot of clubs have used furlough. It was mentioned for Tigers when the 25% pay cuts etc were reported back in March/April. Also, employees can undertake training whilst on furlough. I'm 99.9% sure the furlough rules don't distinguish between fitness training and hands on training :smt...

Re: New Rugby Coronavirus Laws

In the UK, 1,000 people a year die from falling down the stairs. Anyone worried about walking down the stairs this morning? Nope, didn't think so. Wrong. Loads of people have that worry. But the ones who DO worry about falling down stairs move into a bungalow if they can. And the ones who do worry ...

Re: ANOTHER WAVE OF COVID 19?

I also rather suspect that the actual number of cases is way more than the published figures. I know of 20 or so people who have had an illness that presented with covid symptoms in the last couple of months. Only one of those was actually tested, so only she will appear as an official victim. Now, ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

I don't think we should be looking to sign anyone on loan. Rugby is, probably more than any other, a team game. Look at the most successful sides. Us, Exeter, Sarries, won with a team ethic, not a group of stars.the only exception I can think to this was Toulon in the Wilkinson era. In rugby, you ha...

I'd really like to see the 'Hartley' final, very fond memories of that game. Totally changed my opinion of Wayne Barnes

From laws perspective the line of the shoulder is a line along the top of the shoulder so a hand on the shoulder is over that line and high on this context.
Where does it say this in the laws? It clearly says above the shoulder, not on the shoulder. I wouldn't say on is above

Re: Tigers vs Wasps - 15th Feb

I don’t think the term ‘seat belt tackle’ is in the law. The term though refers to when the arm goes over the shoulder in front of the neck, like a seatbelt. Grabbing the shoulder is fine. Are you Lol in disguise? Point taken, so change ‘seatbelt’ to ‘high’ ie contact on or above the shoulder, whic...

Re: Tigers vs Wasps - 15th Feb

Ben Whites try saving tackle WAS by law a seatbelt tackle therefore we were lucky not to concede a penalty try. White grabbed on top of the shoulder when Kibirige was still in possession, I don’t think the term ‘seat belt tackle’ is in the law. The term though refers to when the arm goes over the s...

Re: SA to join a 7 nations set up

If we have SA then we must have Argentina and what about Tonga and Samoa, it will improve domestic rugby not one jot but it may improve the cash flow and hasten centrally contracted players. They will have no time for club rugby but play internationals all the time. Professionalism and cash has not...

Re: Scotland V England

But why should Currie have to play well at 8 to retain his place? He's an outstanding flanker, that's where he should be judged on.
Also there are better 12s than Farrel, and better wingers than Daly.
So why, why does Jones persist with shoehorning players out of position?

Re: Saracens are relegated!

The whole thing is a bit unsatisfactory, in my view. They are still over the cap. They are relegated irrespective of points gained. I don't think they should be allowed to play this season any more. Chalk their results off and give teams an automatic four points. That would give fairness for all the...

The partnership will work just as long as they are all in agreement with player recruitment and selection
And is there any question that they won't be? That's as pointless a statement as saying the car will be fast, as long as someone remembers the petrol

True, but given the absolute PR disaster that is Saracens, you'd think he'd be a bit more savvy
