Re: JAPAN 2019
Yes, it may not be the same as standing on the Crumbie watching Tigers playing, but it is a good opportunity to watch my new "local" team play representative sides from Fiji, Tonga, Samoa & Hong Kong as well as Super Rugby sides Melbourne Rebels & Crusaders, plus (Japanese T14 side...

Re: JAPAN 2019
Hi Steve, good to read your post on here, looking back on the old Tigers Events Tours down under! Sorry I missed it first time around but I rarely read the messageboard anymore. It is a shame that Tigers Events don't seem to be running a tour for the 2019 RWC though I admit I wouldn't be touring the...

Re: Matt Toomua article
Just make sure he remembers to touch the ball down and not break his own current record for the biggest forward pass in pro rugby!

Re: 9 points for try/conversion and 1 minute scrums
Rolling subs might be a good idea. Other than that I have little interest. I was wondering why Lynagh, Campese etc were hyping it up so much, then I read the line "bankrolled by a billionaire". So it's a vanity project for a rich guy who wants to create a legacy, and a few in rugby are ha...

Re: 9 points for try/conversion and 1 minute scrums
The power try requires the scoring team to retain possession from their own 22 up until the try is scored. Presumably, possession is in doubt if the opposing side gets so much as a fingertip on the ball. Can you imagine the TMO involvement on that one??? Laughable - can't be bothered to read any mo...

Re: What's wrong with WR
In addition to the comments already made, the host venue often has to pay a hosting fee to the event sanctioning body (ie Tigers would need to pay a fee to RFU/PR etc to host the event). This fee provides for a guaranteed return for the organiser and puts the risk on the host venue if the attendance...

Exactly! Johnno would have been an All Black or nothing using Ellis' logic.

Re: Herr Flood
It's one country and one country only in my view. So why is it OK for Head coach to represent more than one country but not OK for players to do so? And what if a player plays U16s or U18s for country A? Should they be restricted to that country for life or can they play for a different country at ...

Re: Herr Flood
Correct, Flood can only now change allegiance due to rugby 7s being an Olympic sport. Residency rules have changed considerably over the years. Initially I think a player could play for any country of their choosing as long as they played/lived in that country. Then laws were introduced requiring a ...

Re: Herr Flood
But why should it be different for coaches than for players if you want to take the rigid approach? On that basis, one country for life should be one country for life...for ALL. Personally I don't object to players representing more than one country during their career, as long as there is a sensibl...

Re: Herr Flood
Quite simply because you are either English or not. Nationality is not so black and white these days (and hasn't been for many years). Why not extend your argument to "you are either from Leicester or not" and only have people from Leicester playing for Leicester Tigers? I know it's not b...

Re: What is happening to the Western Force?
The Force have today (Wenesday) been granted their right to appeal the decision and the judge has opted to move straight the hearing the appeal the same day. Also, the ARU rejected Twiggy's offer to unconditionally bankroll WF (effectively to the tune of $50M), proving that, despite what the ARU sai...

This article should also add a bit of background & context to the ARU's move:

Re: What is happening to the Western Force?
Basically the ARU agreed before Easter to cut one Super Rugby side and stated that it would announce the side to be cut "within 48-72 hours" "following a comprehensive review". They always wanted/intended to cut WF as it on the wrong side of the country for the ARU is an inconven...

Re: Chaos in world rugby
The Super rugby debacle isn't all down to money per se. As it stood, the Super 18 was not as competitive as it could have been and supporters were losing interest. It had got to that state because of money (more unnecessary franchises in Aus & SA, combined with spreading their "brand" ...
