in what universe is Wells a better back row player than Taufua?
Additional lineout option would be my guess. Having the two second rows and Hanro as the only lineout options would leave us without a ball carrier in the backline so with Wells you have three and still a big forward in the backline.

Re: A new defence coach?

Agree with this and a couple of points to make: I don't believe that Geordan felt 'up to' the Coaching job at any stage. He took on the role for the Club's benefit - not his. The Club owes him a huge debt of gratitude imho. Borthwick's appointment was driven by Simon Cohen. Borthwick would not have...

Re: A new defence coach?

As Sapayo has stated Mike Ford and Murphy seem to be unsackable, if the Board sack Ford I have no doubt that George will throw his toys out of the park as he did at Bath and request a transfer or the termination of his contract. He and the Young brothers have to much influence within the club and t...

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

I personally think it’s still GM Why so? Just what I’ve been told, there are allegedly still problems with some players with GM behind the scenes too. So, publically Borthwick has said "I pick the team" and privately he's not? I can't see Borthwick being someone's puppet and also can't see him signi...

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

I'm not convinced that Borthwick is all he was cracked up to be. A "world-class coach" was in fact a forwards coach under a very strong-minded head coach. It's worth bearing in mind that in his last match with England the pack was out-thought and out-gunned by a Springbok eight who were very astute...

Bateman has had to explore "the green, green grass of home!" with Dragons.
With the financial situation being as it is in Welsh Rugby, I wager that his offer from the Dragons is less than he was offered by Tigers on the reduced terms

I subscribe to BT sport but the Sale match doesn’t appear to be on their schedule. Does that mean I can, or cannot, use the match pass? Anyone know?
It's likely to be on one of the red button options on 1 or 2. You don't need to be a ST holder to view any games if you subscribe to BT sport.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

The Lewis situation is interesting , but I would guess just not fully fit - he seemed to be very highly rated before lockdown. As for Hardwick, Olowofela and Worth, they've had loads of opportunities over the last couple of years and I don't think any of them are much better than they were in their...

Re: Best Tigers lineup (Since the Restart)

This is a good team! I think that Cole has been better than Genge, so I would have Nephi at LHP (although not sure Heyes has been brilliant). I also think Clare has been better than Kerr, and personally that Liebenberg has been better than Taufua. Taufua is a brilliant player but he still gives awa...

Re: Round 17 other games

If we're top of the pile again in 3-4 years time then nobody will give a monkeys with what's happening now. But, it will take that long (IMHO) to put right what has gone badly wrong in previous years. There is clearly more than one way to skin a cat (Tiger?) but we need to provide the Borthwick regi...

Re: Gloucester vs. Tigers - Sun 30 Aug 20 (1630)

Personally, I think that the Crumbie stand will not be available for fans as it is currently a red zone, only permitting players and officials plus others who need access but have been tested. Away team have been using the ABC bars for changing. May be able to get people into the stadiums but the b...

Re: Reversing the great schism. Is it an option now?

Like earlier posters, I just can't see this happening.

Too much water has gone under the bridge and I can't see union giving any ground as that is where the money is now. Each code can co-exist, they just need to cut their cloth accordingly (as Union teams have had to do)
