Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Episode 3 The revenge of the Contracts.

I think we need to rein back the expectation a bit. In an ideal world, losing the quality of Tuilagi, Veianu and Taufua, you’d expect a lot of cap would be available to bring some big names in. Listening to McGinity though, this isn’t a normal market place regarding recruitment and plucking some int...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Episode 3 The revenge of the Contracts.

Whilst there’s no doubting the credentials of Walters, and understanding that there’s strength and conditioning magic that we don’t know about, I do wonder about fitness. How can one side be fitter, given the timeframe is similar for all clubs ? With the technology available, where you can measure ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Episode 3 The revenge of the Contracts.

Did I imagine it or was there talk of a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between prem clubs not to sign each others players under contract negotiations as a result of Covid? I appreciate it isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on, but clubs seem to be holding to it? (At the moment). McGinity said as much on t...

The key renewals for me are the non-internationals. Whilst you need those guys to drive the standards etc, it's those that are left behind during the international periods that will decide where we finish in the league.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

Last one to be Tom Youngs... you heard it hear first Yep, roll out the skipper at the end. I feel I should be pleased with these announcements but I was expecting/hoping for something else. I was hoping to dip into the tin and see some custard creams, but there were only Rich tea in there. Need to ...

Re: Steve Borthwick

Borthwick and Murphy seem like chalk and cheese to me. I am not sure Murphy has the metal to be a Head Coach. I wonder how they do/will get on. Your right he never had the metal to be Head Coach that's why he was replaced by Borthenstein and then he was promoted to Director of Rugby for his ineptit...

Re: Interviews

I liked the answers he gave but it felt like the same question being asked at least 5 times but slightly differently. I suspect it was pushed through to get a good news story on the board after the last couple of weeks. Good to hear Borthwick though.

Re: Steve Borthwick

Really looking forward to seeing us evolve under Borthwick. Just hearing that snippet from the interview on LTTV was enough for me, that he’s going to be no nonsense, fully focused only on the job in hand and expecting standards to be the highest that they can be. I suspect he’ll answer questions ab...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

Could I just ask those posters who are constantly criticising the club for the way they have handled this to explain what they would like to have happened instead? I would be interested in hearing an alternative approach. Playing it out in the press is not great but it has been determined that this...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

I can't say I'm happy with the ways things have been dealt with, or the way that it's turned out, but what we've got is what we've got. It will be interesting to see if there is any further recruitment, because with the current squad and accepting that we have a percentage of the squad injured, is v...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

To be honest, I feel pretty sickened about the whole affair. Yeah yeah, the club is the main thing, that doesn’t help at the moment. Key players have left, the club have handled it abysmally and we have serious issues with regard to the leaking of information to the press. It would be great to think...
