Re: Wasps are not welcome in Coventry

Good post JG. Agree big time about Wuss. Always (bar one boor who other fans told to take a hike) the most welcoming place, although the days of general entry to bars were over last time, and I do miss the hot tub on the flat roof. The pitch is now a negative TBH. Glaws not my favourite as fans are ...

Re: Low tackles and small balls?

There is a lot of merit in the proposals, but also a lot of guff. Apart from the tackle height, most issues can be solved by reverting to proper rucks and implementing the Laws ruthlessly.

Used to play with an old scrum half who used to practice that in every warm up. Don't think he ever pulled it off though.
Oddly, I played with a scrummie in Swansea who headed the ball over opposition a couple of times. would not be surprised if it used to happen a lot in lower leagues.

Re: Re-Branding a Possibility For Exeter?

The Celts were not all pushed West, though. Invaders roll over the top, native populations stay. Celts were mid European, the name was appropriated by Edward Lloyd (Llwyd) to build a myth for Wales 300 years ago. Wales and West were nominally Pritani but even that covered Iberians, Irish, actual Ce...

Re: Re-Branding a Possibility For Exeter?

The Atrebates around Brizzle were Belgians as were the Belgae etc. England was a merry-go-round of nationalities. Much better to name the clubs after their local pre Roman tribe!

Re: Re-Branding a Possibility For Exeter?

Since the matter came to the fore again it has always been a matter of when, not if. Sponsors do not want to be associated with these types of issues as show recently by Yorkshire Cricket. Clearly there was never an intention to offend but equally clearly they have offended native Americans for who...

I may have misheard as I was up a ladder in the garage at the time, but did I hear Nick Mullins say on the England comms that we were in talks with Pollard?
He said the two clubs are talking. Interesting

Re: World Rugby and brain injury

How do we pressurise them into dealing with this better? No idea. Cancelling our season tickets and BTSport subscription would have an impact - but let’s face it, that’s not going to happen. More likely the game will fade into niche appeal as our kids/grandkids drift away from playing junior rugby ...

World Rugby and brain injury

https://tinyl.io/5ANQ Worth a discussion, as my view is that it is an urgent issue for top line rugby and its obsession with collision and size (much the same as Tom McNab predicted about injuries in general) - and the rest of rugby suffers. To bring in other factors is IMO using known GENERAL POPUL...

Sorry he's going; thankful for his time with us and wishing him all the very best in the future (except when we are playing against him of course). It's a professional game and players make moves which for one reason or another they think are in their long term interests. I have no problem with tha...

Re: George Fords Departure - Why ?

Sale is not home to Ford, wrong side of town totally, a different culture. Saddleworth, though, nicer for us Northerners. The M60 makes it easy to get to AJBell from Saddleworth. Makes sense McGinty leaving, and SB getting some backup in, next season big label 10 from SH?

Re: Exeter's woes

Try understanding from the point of view of a person who gets stuff most days - it is shocking. No amount of 'PC' or'woke' jibes make up for being racially insulted nearly every time you go out. The staid burghers of Lichfield were a bit testy when the topic came up on the online newspaper 'Lichfiel...
