Re: New World Rugby Law Trials

If this is done properly, a massive improvement and also a contribution to driving towards more aerobic demands (and lower weight).

Re: Players asked to take pay cuts!

I'm perfectly prepared to judge Tim Martin. Those who judge others are ripe to be judged. Those who constantly take (subsidies, tax breaks, sueing NHS etc) and hedge their wealth offshore in light/no tax regimes are ripe to be judged. At a time when true contributers to society such as NHS staff ar...

Re: Players asked to take pay cuts!

If the shut down goes into next season, as it may well do, pay cuts could well be the tip of the iceberg. Jobs and many of the professional clubs as we know them today may go under. Sponsors will be tight for cash and if rugby isn't being played then they may not be in a position to sponsor sides t...

Re: Utter Rubbish - Manus Red Card v Wales

You're all missing the big point. Manu tackled a player who should not have been playing having been knocked out at least 4 times. The Wales medics are at fault initially.

Re: What are we going to talk about for the next two months?

Perhaps we could talk about the government response, or lack of it. For a supposed developed nation the COVID-19 testing programme is a farce. A £350 billion financial support package with £330 billion of it in loans. 3 month mortgage holidays negotiated, you can do that anyway. The landlords left ...

Re: Off the market!

I note that the club has announced that none of the interest shown by outside investors in the club were financially attractive to the current shareholders nor deemed to be from persons/organisations who share the ethos of the club and who would necessarily act in the best interests of the club. He...

Re: Will games get cancelled?

Apologies if I’m being naive but why do utility bills etc need to go on hold. People are still going to work and getting paid aren’t they? More working from home, "temporary" redundancies, zero hours workers curtailed....... Working from home- still get paid Redundancies/zero hours workers- most ut...

Re: Will games get cancelled?

I appreciate that the age demographic of this forum means a lot of posters are concerned about their health however when the Chief Medical Officer amongst other officials clearly express that the lockdown of areas like schools is not beneficial then I don’t see the necessity in the prolonged postpo...

Re: Could this be the end for some clubs?

An awful lot of businesses are going to have their resilience sorely tested - tragically many will fail. I can't imagine being an owner affected first by Brexit, then by flooding and now by this. Disasters like the proverbial London busses. Just to be clear, you do know that Brexit hasn’t happened ...

Re: Will games get cancelled?

This virus is here to stay, look at the distribution around the world, many estimates suggest true infection rate is 10 to 100-fold higher than "confirmed" cases. Long term we have to look towards immunity either by infection or vaccination, vaccine is 12 months away and you need to add on producti...

Re: Will games get cancelled?

Sad to say this is likely to last a fair old while. My guess is the old order will change a lot in the interim with a couple of clubs collapsing, player rosters changing and contracting, and the landscape generally being quite different. And I'd just got the black euro shirt out for the Castres mat...

Re: Will games get cancelled?

Problem is we are only just in the foothills of disease onset. Actual epidemiologists and virologists predict late April May peak and no real respite. Problem is this has a mutation or 'cleft' on part of the RNA that is only seen on virulent strains according to the sequencing report. So we could be...
