Re: Wippee Friday night game! PRC fixtures

Thanks for the information John. I'll bear your recommendations in mind. The standing is great if you buy as soon as the tickets are out on the Wuss website, a few yards to the pie, curry, faggots & mash. BUT they changed caterers last year and the locals weren't happy. The bar and the loos are equ...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/49006456 Harry Thacker one of 7 players to sign extensions with Bristol. 3 years in Harry's case. I still hope to see him back at Tigers one day. Of all the players we have let go, he is one of 3 or 4 that rankle with me over the last decade or so. A supremel...

Radical thought, but how about they try enforcing the laws we already have? (yes I'm look at you, every single player entering a ruck off his feet)
Too simple.

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation

Sooner or later we were always going to get to this position once rugby admitted to being professional. Perhaps the only saving grace of not being the 'People's Sport' :smt005 is that some equilibrium will be reached way way below the farce of football wages.

Re: New Kit

Announced on the club website that they will be supplied by Kukri (again) this season. We all knew it was coming after the photos from pre-season but it's still not great. The quality and sizing/fit has been **** since we left Canterbury Bought one shirt from Canterbury, and since then, nothing. St...

Can't imagine what you poor lads and lasses go through. Mrs G had a couple of fortunately short-lived depressive bouts, but having known someone who had lifelong unpredictable and profound depressions, and the battles he had, I can only look on in amazement at the psychological strength displayed by...

Re: Leicester Tigers up for sale for £60 Million

Pure idle speculation here, but has anyone any thoughts as to how they would feel if say Jim Ratcliffe were to bid to buy the club? I have no idea if he has any interest in rugby, but he seems to want to invest heavily in sporting activities - Ben Ainslie's British America's Cup, British Triathlon,...

Not sure where else to, put this so apologies if this in the incorrect place. I see that James Dyson has just purchased a Penthouse on Singapore for £44 million, and that he is moving Dysons HQ to Singapore, with both he and his wife becoming naturalised Singapore citizens. I wonder if this will ha...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation

2nd week of July. It will be very good for everyone to read that Saracens are not in breach of the salary cap. Given that it was Premiership Rugby who said there was a need to investigate, it will be grand to read their conclusions. They announced the investigation in March. The enquiry by parliame...

Once again agree 100% with my close namesake, John Griffiths. I'm in the play lots of sports, get really fit, choose later - in rugby that's why some like Thorn have longer careers.

Re: Ringfencing finally here?

The gap between Premiership and Championship rugby is huge that is why a promoted team has to recruit heavily before starting their Premiership campaign even then they usually struggle. The chances of Championship winners beating the bottom Premiership team are slim as we found when a similar syste...

Re: Elitism in Rugby

Biffer wrote, and I agree: “Sport should be part of your upbringing, and school sport should be a significant part of that. And yes, it should be paid from taxes.” It is just a pity that private and grammar school pupils are accused of being elitist! The fault lies with the state. Think about that ...

Re: Elitism in Rugby

Most people aren't criticising private schools for running sports, they're criticising state schools for not doing it. When this happens it presents fewer opportunities for kids from poorer backgrounds. Sport should be part of your upbringing, and school sport should be a significant part of that. ...
