Re: Exiles set for Exile?

A few posts suggesting bells and whistles and cheap/giveaway tickets to build long term support. Didn’t work so well at Wasps, did it?

Re: Exiles set for Exile?

Personally wouldn’t be happy with a British league unless there was a standard salary cap across the board. And some institutions wouldn’t wear that!

Re: Exiles set for Exile?

Where there is already a base, I do think there's an element of build it and they will come. For example, Wasps showed that some support could be drawn out with attractive rugby. Their gates were undoubtedly inflated by marketing, but there must be a few thousand in Coventry missing them. If Cov rug...

And, now that they’ve stopped screening every game, there’s no loss of content.

Re: Exiles set for Exile?

I’d imagine there are heated discussions going on with Scottish and Richmond. The plan for 10/10 is clearly ripe for bringing in a year early now, but the championship needs a trim for the numbers to work. Sweeney is guilty of sleeping at the wheel, and now has a hell of a job to put something viabl...

Don't you just love Bill Sweeney's comment "The restructuring of the Professional Game Agreement into a strategic partnership provides a great opportunity for all stakeholders to set aside self-interest and collaborate to reset and secure the future long-term sustainable growth of the professi...

Re: Murrayfield - diabolical facilities!

Spoilt for choice for good bars in Edinburgh. I generally avoid Rose Street, as I did as a student, but head for the Bow bar on Bow street (funnily enough) for a friendly atmosphere and great range of beers, Cafe Royal for something classier with the option of food, or the Hanging Bat for weird craf...

We had the best of TV. His injuries during his time with us, especially his ankle, significantly reduced his jinking step.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe

Does seem that Irish are set to fall. I guess 10 team league would mean less clashing with England right? We'd have the choice of either no clashes during 6N period (inc. rest week pre tournament) OR not clashing with RWC at all plus removing one clash week of the 6N. If we said the only rationale ...

Re: Champions Cup Final

Pellsey scrum feeds were mentioned. Barnes also commented on the balls ability to record exactly where it crosses the touch line and cited JVP kick at the end of the Sale game where the ball went dead, with Tigers staff saying it didn’t and Sale saying it did. Also help with any goal kicks that may...

I’ve a hazy memory of Potter wanting to play for England a year or 2 ago (I have hazy memories of most things to be honest), so if he heads back for international honours, I hope it won’t be as a one cap wonder. Eddie does have a history of tagging and bagging dual nationality players.

Re: Exiles set for Exile?

Not the end. A big challenge, but not the end. I can imagine there are a few that are now more willing to consider a form of franchise and central support than there were a year or 2 ago.
