Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Why on earth have we let Meredith go? He's a promising 10 who's just led Loughborough to a BUCS title, with a kicking tee record of something mad, like 97%. Wilkinson has had no chances and Pollard will be away for a fair bit of next season. Are we going to persist with Shillcock at 10 for those ti...

Agreed next seasons player recruitment and retention decisions are unfathomable. How do we even know Edwards wanted to stay? Players are not commodities to be controlled, they're actual people who make their own decisions... It's not so unfathomable that we offered him 3rd choice and he decided to ...

Unfortunately--------------Steward wont be considered at Full Back for England unless he radically improves his speed and directional running. Plus his defence isnt that great Neither are Hodge or Carpenter, the nos 2 and 3, but, they can catch and are miles quicker Furbank has improved in leaps an...

Jimmy Skitz wrote: Wed Apr 24, 2024 7:01 pm have they just posted multiple stuff since the Kata story, it could be as simple as that?
All the stuff above it is promoting upcoming matches, which is surely more important to the club than reporting of an entirely expected ban.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Why do Tigers on their website post the news about the academy lads leaving and Kata’s ban way down the front page if at all it even appears high up on the page, they seem to have a consistent policy of trying to bury this type of news. As Kata’s ban appeared on major news channels and will be talk...

Agree it's a silly system. If you do something in a Prem match that gets you banned for 2 games, you should miss 2 Prem matches.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

It is a failure of the system that cannot find game time for players beyond the age of eighteen. Obviously young players need games to continue development and equally obviously they have to be ready to move on to create space for the next year group. Why on earth is it beyond the ability of the RF...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Seems a pretty odd decision to let Edward’s go whilst giving Whitley a new contract, he’s done a job but realistically he’ll never be more that a 3rd choice. Which Edward’s surely could have done next season before taking over from youngs when he retires and at 21 sure could only get better with so...

What's the logic of reducing senior academy sizes so drastically?

To force them to Championship clubs and make the second division stronger?

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

How much time does it take in training to learn all the positional aspects of playing 12 rather than 15?

I'm all for trying things out, but I'm not sure it's as simple as just whacking a 12 on his back and hoping for the best.

Big gamble, for both him and the club.

Re: Tigers v Saints (A) - Premiership - Saturday 20th April 2024 - KO: 15-05

Kelly looks to be one of the few who have shown signs of form in the last couple of matches. Certainly both Porter and Kelly lost form after their England stints. I think Kelly had only just got back to full fitness so would always have been marginal for world cup consideration and realistically Po...

If Saints and Bath (who could not win a match last season) . It simply begs the question why can't we? Nothing to say that we can't. How long has van Graan been at Bath, Dowson & Vesty at Saints, and McKellar at Tigers? And Bath and Saints have only really been successful this season. Van Graan...

Re: Tigers v Saints (A) - Premiership - Saturday 20th April 2024 - KO: 15-05

I imagine Kata played wing at Brumbies because he'd just converted from rugby league, and (back then particularly) it was a less technical position. Kata's kicking was poor for Tonga, and that is really 90% of what wingers are asked to do these days. I think he played there for Tonga simply because ...

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

Time to give a few of the youngsters more minutes, it's a rare opportunity with 3 games and nothing to lose. Carnduff should start all 3 games, Hanro should play at 8 when fit if that's the plan for next season. Ilione needs a lot more minutes. FTT and Vanes, if fit, should be in squads. Woodward pa...
