Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

People talk about Borthwick bringing through young players and McKellar not. It's really not that simple - when Borthwick was here there were a few really good youngsters emerging. Steward, JvP, O Chessum, Martin, Reffell, Heyes. 4 or 5 of those are now bordering on world class. The current crop of...

Re: Tigers vs Gloucester (H) - Premiership - Friday 22nd March 2024 - KO:19.45

The old "we are doomed" brigade out in force as usual, no one seems to allow that we had a team who have not played together for weeks, some players who have not had any rugby at all for weeks ( Youngs, Stewart, Wiese) a late change at 10 and internationals who must be running on fumes (C...

Re: Saracens - Harlequins TMO

There's also the question of whether they've been instructed not to call things that commentators have highlighted?

The TMO sounded like he was very comfortable with his decision to ignore the foul play, and that the rest of the officiating team would agree with him.

Is Scott fit? I'd have him as one of the first names on the team sheet if he is.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Just a thought and I’m not looking for an argument here but has Englands attack moved on maybe because Farrell isn’t there? I would say so. There was an interesting moment in the Sarries v Quins game where Healey highlighted Farrell screaming in the face of a team mate for dropping a difficult pass...

Re: Saracens - Harlequins TMO

I've no problem with the commentary team commenting on incidents, its what they are there for. The problem is that the TMO should be good enough to spot these on their own and not need to commentary team to pick them up for them. We know that some members of the commentary team have got the laws wr...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

It was Ben White or JVP in all reality fighting for Ben Youngs back up. No way White would've played 3rd choice behind JVP or Youngs. Whereas Wigglesworth was just wanting a playing contract not a coaching one that Sarries was offering. The Idea that Wigglesworth was the one who pushed White out IM...

Re: Tigers vs Gloucester (H) - Premiership - Friday 22nd March 2024 - KO:19.45

Just wasted some time doing some analysis of scores/tries for/against in games with each starting 13. This season prem only. With Kelly starting we've scored on average a try more per game than with Porter, but conceded half a try more on average too. Obviously loads of other variables, with interna...

It's the same outrage any time a young player on the edge of the first team leaves. I'm sure there are Tigers fans out there still distraught that we allowed Thacker, Worth and Olowofela to leave. A lot of youngsters play U20's for England and don't make it as a first choice Prem player. Edwards has...

Death by pragmatism. DMK has to have more than this up his sleeve, because the rest of the league already figured us out when Borthwick was still here. We're always told that this approach is driven by what the data says. Well... Tigers analysis team, please can you add a note to last night's data ...

Re: Tigers vs Gloucester (H) - Premiership - Friday 22nd March 2024 - KO:19.45

Sorry to bore everyone with stats, but I'm curious why no one seems to be saying we kicked too much (although I'll admit I haven't read the whole thread)? Edit: just seen the above post! Today was the most we've kicked in a Prem game all season. To illustrate how poor the quality of both teams was t...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Rugby evolves and it appears to be moving to a more attacking game or mix with a good atrack beating the power and set piece only game. Tigers are evolving bit I am not sure enough or quite in the direction other teams are. DMc needs to evolve his game from where Australia or the Bumbies were too. ...

Re: Tigers vs Gloucester (H) - Premiership - Friday 22nd March 2024 - KO:19.45

That result doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. Yes, we can still make top 4, but if we can't beat a fairly average Glouc team at home who did nothing more impressive than walk through a few half-hearted tackles, then Sale and Saints away are a pretty scary prospect. Let's not even talk ab...
