Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

A lot of forwards imo are in their last contact now, too many players who don’t bring impact or have lost their old impact. Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if there's a cull at the end of next season. Particularly around the backrow as we look to refine what we need with the next generation coming thr...

Re: Tigers social post about threats

Completely agree.

So disappointed by the result, but personal abuse or threats are not acceptable, and are far more disappointing than the result.

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

Bristol were awful for 65 minutes, gave us so much attacking ball by trying to run from their own line, and we should have been 40 points up, not 19. Discipline has cost us again, as has lack of accuracy in attack. We managed to make Lahiff look like a good player. That's quite an astounding achieve...

Re: Doom and Gloom

To be completely fair, Saracens (and every other club for that matter) have "bang average" Premiership players - because, salary cap. They are just very good at making the team greater than the sum of its parts and a huge part of that comes down to consistency of coaching. I think this se...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

It was the first time I watched him for more than a few minutes. He is a 13, definitely. Tigers need at least two more centres if Kelly leaves, one of those should be a playmaking 12 to allow us options that don’t involve moving Steward from his best position of 15. Kelly leaving and Steward moving...

Re: Race for the top 4.

True if Us and Saints both win today then we are 100% back in the top 4 race too... Probably the most interesting season finish for a long time, although I'd struggle to imagine us making top 4 now. Still hope though... If Saints and us win (5-0) today (or we get 5 and Bristol and Quins get 0). Our...

Re: Race for the top 4.

Top 4 is likely in the 53-57 points range. That means if they beat Newcastle they are just about there. Plus they have Northampton last week of the season where they may rotate if they have a home semifinal tied up. But if Saints don't do them a favour today, it's very likely that Saints won't have...

Re: Race for the top 4.

For all Bath's plaudits this season, they really need us and Saints to do them a favour tomorrow or they could very easily not even make the playoffs. Top 4 is likely in the 53-57 points range. Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

Brown started on the wing for England when NZ were given a battering at Twickenham in 2012, so I think he'll manage against Bristol. Even allowing for Brown's fitness 12 years is a long time ago. He wasn't used to playing wing then, what's the difference now? OK, he isn't as good as he was then, bu...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Alex Dombrant went from Uni rugby to Prem first team. Freddie Steward went from Loughborough Students to starring for us, as did Dan Kelly. University rugby is a good standard, the BUCS league has teams with professional levels of set up. Three very different journeys there though. Steward had a st...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Why on earth have we let Meredith go? He's a promising 10 who's just led Loughborough to a BUCS title, with a kicking tee record of something mad, like 97%. Wilkinson has had no chances and Pollard will be away for a fair bit of next season. Are we going to persist with Shillcock at 10 for those ti...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I am never quite sure about our thinking wrt 9s. We let Ben White go for example…of course he might have wanted to go, but seems a shame given the player he’s become How would you convince a player of White's quality to stay and be 3rd choice on a salary comensurate with that status, given the othe...
