I struggle to see what games you have really watched him in? He comfortable been a better scrummager than Van Wyk IMO, and he's a better carrier than Cronin. IMO he's one of the few front rowers that seem to be a decent trucking carrier. He's made 15 appearances this season... Van Wyk's scrummaging...

I was expecting to see more of Whitcombe this year, but when he has come on he really hasn't impressed. He seems to struggle in the scrum and doesn't add much in the loose. If he wants more game time he needs to start taking his chances when he gets them. I'd actually say Cronin has been good in rec...

Re: Tigers v Sale (A) - Premiership - Friday 10th May 2024 - KO: 7:45pm
I was very confident we'd beat Gloucester.
I was cautiously optimistic against Saints.
I was convinced we'd defeat Bristol (even after 60 minutes).
I don't think we've got a hope in hell of beating Sale.
So I'm guessing that means we're going to win...

Would agree on Hurd, I think the Scotland call up got as all a bit over-excited about his potential when the reality is that he was pretty much the last professional Scottish tight head who was available to be called up.
Hopefully he still has time to progress.

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00
Ok, the kick did ultimately lead to the winning score, but I'd be asking how they got into that position on the scoreboard. What about the other 2 tries ? They should never have been in a position to win that game at that point, so letting a prop in for 2 tries before that would be concerning me mo...

Re: Billy Vunipola arrested
Why would we even consider him? He's not 1st choice for England or Saracens anymore. We've signed Beets let's develop him as we did Jasper. We have Hanro and Hatherall who can cover 8. I think Beets is too young for a year or two. I don't think he has ever even played a senior game. Jaspar was a lo...

I didn't see any mention of that in the article? Do we know any details?

https://archive.ph/yzQ2e This has big implications on the squad espcially given the supposed squad limits Indeed! Interesting to note how England will have a say on centrally contracted players training, for example if Borthwick wants Chessum to play 6 not lock because he wants Martin, Chessum and ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)
I think many people underestimate how difficult it is to keep the ball for 3 minutes in those circumstances without infringing or making an error. I'm curious, how early would people advocate "sticking it up the jumper" for when defending a slim lead? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? How early do y...

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00
I'm not inclined to blame the head coach for everything that happens on the pitch, but I can't imagine for a second that anyone's immediate instinct is to kick away posession from the opposition half like that unless it's an attacking grubber kick or chip ahead for a runner coming through at pace. ...

Re: Billy Vunipola arrested
Ok hypothetical... IF Montpellier pull out of their deal for him IF we assume our squad as is (ie no more back row signings) IF we had cap space (at a possibly cut price deal) Would we be interested in him on a 1 year deal? In that scenario I'd take him, 100%. I doubt Montoellier will pull out thou...

Re: Doom and Gloom
Your absolutely right I hadn’t realised he’d been here that long I thought he’d come in in 21/22 but that was just a coaching change. But my original point was about Bothwick removing Mcginty who in my opinion did our best recruitment in years with his agent since which it fell off a cliff. So is a...
