Re: Freddie Steward

The salarysins first half penalties from their own half were a big part of them winning yesterday. If we have a player that can keep the scoreboard ticking over or keep opposition honest, providing clean ball at the breakdown it will help the team development and performance no end. :smt001 :smt001...

Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20

Luther Burrell signs for 2 seasons with Newcastle Falcons. https://www.newcastlefalcons.co.uk/news/story/Luther-Burrell-returns-to-union-with-Newcastle-Falcons Makes a lot of sense for Falcons, exactly the sort of player they need if they are to have a chance of survival - probably didn't break the...

Re: European competitions

Have to say I have a begrudging respect for Sarries. I know they have been naughty boys, but winning like they do is not just about spending more on players. They’re well coached and drilled and put everything in as players. I might be in the minority, but just saying... I think proof, if it were n...

Re: Romain Poite

A couple of months ago I had a very high temperature, a cough, sore throat and felt really out of breath and physically exhausted. As I looked in the car mirror to swab my tonsils at the covid test centre I realised I had tonsilitis. Other illnesses are still available :smt023 I'm sure Poitre would ...

Re: QF cancelled - Castres forfeit match!

I think we would have beaten Castres and it could have been a good confidence boost. The team needs time on the pitch together more than it needs a semi final in Toulon. Really disappointing, but it is what it is.

Is it just me, or is there a bit of a Stimpson vibe about Steward? Just reminds me of a young, raw, undeveloped version. Let’s hope things come on well.
Exactly what I was thinking, but didn't want to tempt fate by saying it too soon!

I would guess that Taufua has a knock and isn't likely to be able to do a full 80 at 100% intensity.
I would seriously hope he isn't on the bench because of fitness. If he isn't fit he should be getting treatment, resting or rehabbing.
There is such a thing as fit enough to do 40 minutes.

Re: Freddie Steward

The condensed season has allowed us to see some very bright young talent given chances they perhaps would not have had in more normal circumstances. Martin, Henry, Steward among others have risen to the challenge and have great futures ahead of them. I just hope we gave them decent length contracts...

Re: European competitions

Leinster are huge favourites for that. If Sarries were at full strength and at home then I'd probably just about back them.

Re: Tigers vs Castres - 20 Sep 20 at 1500

in what universe is Wells a better back row player than Taufua? Additional lineout option would be my guess. Having the two second rows and Hanro as the only lineout options would leave us without a ball carrier in the backline so with Wells you have three and still a big forward in the backline. I...

Re: Slowly but surely...

That 6N team is a whole different proposition compared to previous years. No weak link in there, and even the bench looks strong.

We might even look forward to having an advantage during the 6N period next season!

Re: A new defence coach?

There is a balance within the coaching staff at club level. Some have to have knowlege of the players so that the new head coach isn't selecting on games seen on TV and a limited time on the training ground. As time progresses Borthwick will clearly form his own opinions of individual players stren...

Re: Tigers vs Castres - 20 Sep 20 at 1500

I'm an advocate of playing people in their best positions. For me that means leaving Scott at 12 and Nadolo on the wing. I'd rather have Taute at 13 in the absence of Porter than start changing everything around and breaking up what are already very new partnerships (i.e. Scott & Ford). I don't thi...

Re: Team vs Saints

Barnes, as always, showed he’s the best ref around. He makes it very clear to the players about how to react. Our cards were deserved, and as I said in a previous post Lavanini was not to blame. The rules are clear and like Saints card, it was a high tackle but in real time not reckless . Barnes al...
