Open Letter To The Board

Dear Mr Tom, Firstly I would like to thank you for your service to Leicester Tigers thus far, and in the future. Your commitment to the club has been longstanding and I am lead to believe that members of the board have personally supported the club during the challenges of 2020. For this I am gratef...

Re: McGinty off

Sorry to double post, but... This was when McGinity joined us a little over a year ago: Tigers chairman Peter Tom said: “Since the end of last season, we have been reviewing the club’s operations at many levels and see the expansion in the rugby department as vital in pushing forward. “The demands i...

Re: McGinty off

I'm afraid I simply don't believe the 'statements' being released by the club any more. It was only 3 months ago when we were being fed LTTV reassurances from Geordie and Jan, and I believed what I was hearing then. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! The much-vaunted strategic r...

Re: McGinty off

If money was the issue, I reckon they could have found enough Tigers supporters willing to chip in a fiver each and cover his salary for the year. We employed McGinity, recruitment improved by approximately one million percent. Then we sacked him :smt017 Anyone got any advice for a rugby fan on the ...

Re: George Martin Updated

I have read through this thread again and still can't find anyone saying that they expect Martin to be able to push for a starting place. I said I hope Martin can push for it, but that's a rather different thing, isn't it? :smt017 Generally, when the best players break through it happens very quickly.

Re: Role of the TMO

Getting back to the title, I'd enforce the rule of small children.......................................the TMO should be seen but not heard and only speak when they are spoken to. So if they see someone deliberate injure an opponent they shouldn't say anything (as an example) unless the referee as...

I get a bit miffed when the TMO is clearly trying to force a decision ("Just have another look." "I'll just show you another angle") and pressurises the ref.
Agree with this. Point it out to the ref, if he disagrees, let it go.

Re: George Martin Updated

Worth pointing out for those that don't read the article, the quote above about him impressing is from Murphy, not Borthwick.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing what Martin can do when he returns - hopefully he can push for that place alongside Lavanini.

Re: Matera hero to zero

Was it ok to talk about running over black people in your car 9 years ago? Not as I remember it! Is it "woke" to think the idea of running people over because they are black is wrong? If it is, then call me woke - I'm against racially motivated murder, sorry. How could Argentina not do something? Th...

Re: Role of the TMO

We want referees to get everything right. We get angry when they don't. Referees are human. Humans get things wrong. An extra human with a video replay will get more things right. I have no problem with TMO or how it's used. I like the way they now use it while play is still going, I would prefer TM...

Re: Autumn Nations Cup

Don't forget Barbeary's primary position is hooker, not flanker - even though he's featured more in the back row for Wasps. Who else is looking like they could take over from George and Cowan-Dickie?

He looks like he's going to be a top player, so why not get him involved?

Re: London Irish Away

The set piece was an issue - or rather the scrum. Without Gigena absent injured and Genge with England we were obliged to play Bower. The problem was either you start him with the hope that Cole will cope with the consequences of Bower not having the scrummaging power or you start LadyGaga and run ...

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021

I can't see any Tigers making the tour, when did that last happen? Genge perhaps as impact sub? Few other props have his explosiveness. Youngs as the experienced 9? A good 6 months from Ford and he could make it too. In answer to your question, I've checked back to 1971 and every Lions squad has in...

Re: London Irish Away

Irish found a way to lift their game late on because of our errors - i.e. the missed penalties to touch. Rugby is a momentum game and we repeatedly handed it back to them. The modern game is all about the following sequence: 1. Give ball to opposition as far into their half as possible. 2. Defend ro...
