Re: 6 Nations 2022
I thought it was a very poor performance from England. Would they have scored a try but for a missthrow by Wales at a lineout on their own line? Backs lack physicality and real pace, can't see them worrying Ireland or France. It was a strange game. Welsh forwards were poor but seemed to show some s...

Re: 21/22 Injury/Suspension Thread
I'd argue Clare has always been clearly ahead of Dolly, and still is. Dolly is a good player but it was the injury crisis that resulted in his England cap, and as has been stated above, if they had both been fit then I suspect that Clare would have been called up ahead of Dolly. I expect us to lose...

Re: 6 Nations 2022
But there is a second tier competition already - the Rugby Europe Championship as its now called. Italy got into the 6N because they were beating the top teams, or competing on a very similar level, on a semi-regular basis. Georgia are nowhere near that level, and even if they fluke a win in a one-o...

Re: 6 Nations 2022
Italy are what they are. Nearly 20 years of perseverance and they are less competitive than when they joined. Most of their best players have been Argentinians. There simply isn't much interest in rugby in Italy. Why does rugby need to try to be a global game? It never has been and it never will be...

Re: 6 Nations 2022
Springboks in the 6N? No thank you. The Italian side has been struggling for a while now but with the success of their U20 side, the future is looking better, and if the second tier, Georgia, Portugal, Spain, Russia, gets financial support, the future of European rugby is good. Simply put, if it ai...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2021/22 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACTS: Lord of the Mauls
I hope we can somehow keep Tommy Reffell, the guy is seriously good. I wonder if at some point a club will challenge the WRU in court over that rule I've always thought it a form of discrimination almost (if that's the right word) to not pick someone for international honours based on what country ...

Re: The next England Coach.
Bit like Edwards in France why would Farrell leave Ireland given the player pool at his disposal and his ability to control how many games they play because the chance to be head coach of your national team and work alongside your son is too much to turn down. For me, being english and having the c...

Re: Farrell vs Scotland
Genuine question, apart from Manu, does England have an international class 12? Slade is a 13. Lawrence I haven’t seen enough of, Atkinson I don’t think is. Lozowski and Hendrickson are the best I can think of. Thoughts please? Manu and Farrell are both international class 12s and both injured. So ...

Re: 6 Nations 2022
The penalty try, to be given relies on the interpretation as to whether, had Cowan-Dickie not deliberately and illegally slapped the ball out, the Scotland winger would have certainly scored a try. For me the ref completely overlooked one key thing. Cowan-Dickie could have caught the ball. As such ...

Farrell vs Scotland
(I think I know the answer going from previous threads on here but here goes anyway...) IMO, we wouldn't have lost against Scotland with Farrell at 12. Farrell would also have led the backline both in defense and attack more in terms of positioning. He would have been a second distributor at 12 to h...

Re: 6 Nations 2022
In depth analysis in the Times today showing clear penalties against Scotland in the final scrums and how the ref bottled it. Did the ref call those penalties earlier in the game though? I seem to recall him letting any collapses go as soon as the ball was playable and telling the 9 to get on with ...

Re: GP / Six Nations plus others - w/e 04-06th February 2022
Not convinced you can argue a back three player is out of position, especially a 15 played on the wing. In modern rugby the back 3 are a unit that do all the same roles pretty much. If Malins was an out and out winger I be more worried if he had to move to 15 than someone moving the other way.

Re: GP / Six Nations plus others - w/e 04-06th February 2022
I think this game showed the limited class that England have at centre. Not convinced Slade has the playmaking or leadership skills to play 12, no matter who is at 13. And not convinced there is anyone else at 12 putting there hands up at club level.

Re: The next England Coach.
England came 5th in th 2018 six nations and then almost won the World Cup in 2019. It was a very narrow loss to a decent Scotland team in Murrayfield, first game up in the tournament. I think there's some over-reaction on here (unheard of I know :smt002). I'd actually be more worried if we were peak...
